Cheer our London Marathon runners

Red Thunder
Come along to the GoodGym supporters locations to cheer on our fantastic London marathon runners and show the whole of London and the World that when it comes to cheering and support there ain’t nothing better than a GoodGym Cheer Squad.
Make sure you come wearing your RED GG tshirts and help make a sea of red and show everyone what we’re about when we call ourselves RedThunder!
Cowbells and any other noise making devices are also welcome.
Locations
We’ve got two locations for cheering this year:
- Canary Wharf - Mile 18 Our location will be near the Mile 18 marker at Canary Wharf - handy for public transport and has the advantage of seeing the runners run out and back as they loop round the Isle of Dogs peninsula. Look for the GoodGym flag and banner! The runners will be getting towards the metaphorical wall so let’s give them a big GG Boost to power them up and get them through that wall.
You can see the spectator map of our location, it’s map 2 on the marathon website. Nearest DLR stops are Heron Quays, Canary Wharf and South Quay.
Get there from approximately 10.00 am to see first wheelchair athletes, 10.50 for elite women, 11.25 for elite men, 12.24 for 3.30 hr pace and 13.05 for 4.30 hr pace.
- Somerset House - Mile 24.5 With the first group having boosted the runners through the wall the second group is going to power everyone along to the finish! We’re gonna group ourselves outside the home of GoodGym – Somerset House. Down on the embankment it’s a great spot to watch everyone and really give them that boost to get to the finish. We'll hopefully have a banner here too but we had a big group here last year and anyone who was around will remember the noise and dedication we gave to spurring the runners on!
You can see the spectator map of our location, it’s map 3 on the marathon website and we’re gonna be just east of waterloo bridge. Nearest tube stops are Embankment, Temple, Waterloo and Charing Cross.
Get there from approximately 10.15 am to see first wheelchair athletes, 11.20 for elite women, 11.50 for elite men, 13.10 for 3.30 hr pace and 14.00 for 4.30 hr pace.
Please note locations are approximate but hopefully it will be obvious where we are when you are in the vicinity…follow the noise!

Camden
St Luke's, Alara & Castlehaven

I am sad to say our Big Task at the Southbank Centre with Grounded Ecotherapy has been cancelled for this Wednesday and will be rescheduled for the end of March. I am sorry about this and was only told myself on Monday at midday.
We have three wonderful tasks for this week:
- Alara - we will be doing some compost wheelbarrowing into the Permaculture garden and some hoeing! (4km overall)
- St Luke's Community Centre - we will be filling the remaining planters full of compost to ready them for Spring planting! (7km overall)
- Castlehaven Community Centre - we will be helping clear up the parks to help recover from Storm Doris (4km overall)
Come along - lots to do!
We're still having a little trouble with the map, actual location just down from Brill Place. If using Google Maps please search for "51.531120, -0.129768" to best direct you. Thank you.
GoodGym Camden is the best way to get fit in North London, we meet every week at 6.45pm, there's a short intro and we aim to leave at 7pm.
We are a fun and sociable group which does good and gets fit together. We welcome all abilities but ask that you are able to run for at least 15 minutes, don't worry though we keep together as a group and no-one is left behind! Come along and join us!
This will be last week before I'm away for three weeks. GoodGym Camden will be covered by the wonderful qualified Run Leaders: Polly, Frances and Pritesh while I'm gone.
After the run we'll head for a lemonade at the local pub - it's just around the corner, we've got a table booked, so have a drink and bask in your amazing achievements for the night!

Damaris has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Please note new location address and click here for actual location (Google hasn't updated yet so the map is broken - sorry!) We'll have someone manning the old start location and directing you to The Living Centre should you miss it

Tasks for this week will be:
- Homeless Shelter Task - helping C4WS making beds for their guests for that evening. Afterwards the new GG Birmingham Trainer Jonny will do a fitness session at Russell Square. (4-5km overall)
- Abbey Community Centre - Polly will lead a group of 10-12 runners to help paint trees for the centre's pantomime! (10km overall)
Please note we will need to leave promptly for both tasks so the intro will be at 6.55 and we'll be leaving at 7.00pm.
After the run we'll head for a lemonade at the local pub - it's just around the corner - it's a great opportunity to learn more about what GoodGym does, what we've been up to in Camden and how you might get further involved and they do some cracking sweet potato fries too!
It's going to be a great evening!
