As we reach the end of volunteer week 2021 it was perfect time for 2 social runs and then a litter pick as part of Great British Spring Clean.

7 of us got to work around Roath Recreation Ground and Pleasure Gardens.

We had already jogged a nice 5km around the area, some of us including Roath Lake.

Learning Time

Roath Park, opened in 1894 , was one of the first public parks in Cardiff’s and still retains its classic Victorian atmosphere and layout of characterful linear parks, extending along the Nant Fawr stream. Each section of the park was designed for a specific purpose and the park still provides a wide range of horticultural interest, nature conservation and activities to delight today’s visitors.

Roath Park is one of the city’s Green Flag parks .

The areas are a great place to meet, enjoy the sun with friends, play bowls, tennis or the newest must play game started by Llion, Martin and Michael litter picker pine cone golf.

Ben and Karolina proved litter pick heroes by getting right into the areas that no one else could.

Flo had assistance after being met by Emily who helped out upon her arrival around the rec. But Flo went that extra mile by taking the shopping trolley back to Home Bargains where it belonged.

Several bags and we were done, time to head off for lunches and coffees after some decent amount of keeping fit by doing good.
