After having a wander around the Festival of Spring, we headed off to help Neptune's Pirates clean Eastney beach.

At only 6 months old, Wilma was full of enthusiasm and bounded across the sand looking for litter with us.

It was a lovely afternoon, in a beautiful location, in good company and we filled 2 bags with litter.

Mrs Y needed an overgrown shrub/tree/jungle to be cut back so that contractors will be able to reach the end of her garden to replace the fence panels.

So while the marathon runners pounded the hot streets of London, I undertook my equivalent feat of strength and endurance.

No jelly babies required, and no TV crew to film my efforts, but Mrs Y was very pleased with my sterling work, right through to the finish tape.

l joined the welcoming crew of the Friends of Langstone Harbour to rescue two abandoned dinghies washed up against the Harbour wall. Their fibreglass hulls were gradually breaking up and polluting the sea with each high tide.

We pulled them up onto an old wooden pier, and fixed them in place with ropes and drilled-in fixings, so they can stay out of the water until they can be collected and disposed of safely.

At the same time, we took the opportunity to collect the visible plastics from this section of the beach, as well as on the walk to and from the boat location.

(Unfortunately, there were thousands of plastic nurdles in the shingle that we just couldn't collect. It's an ongoing labour of love for this Friends group.)

We had all GoodGym modes of travel in action with a walking group, running group and cycling group heading to Admiral Jellicoe House for our task this evening.

Continuing our work from a weekend visit earlier in the month, we had even more bright colours to help liven up the dementia garden for residents.

Emmanuel received an introduction to Priscilla, Queen of the Desert from Jen and Harry, as well as career and financial advice from our very own Richard and Judy!

Dave was distracted by a local cricket match taking place on the field behind the garden, luckily Val got him back on track by handing over the GG Red paint brush.

In just under an hour we covered 11 fence panels. Top prize goes to Andy for his precision work and perfect timing! Well done, everyone, what a wonderful, colourful evening!
