Black is the new red

Paul arrived for his 54th group run and task proudly wearing his black tee shirt. By his own admission his red GG T shirt is his all time favourite running shirt but he sure does look good in black too.

With Nick getting closer on 46 and Anne on 44 good deeds there will soon be enough goodgymers for an all blacks (rugby) team.

We also welcomed Anne, Ros,Belinda, John , Emily, Gill and a very sickly snowflake ( Jay ) together with Barbara, Tamsin and Jemmie who met us at the task.

White spirits on a dark evening

With the walking group ( Nick and John) setting off early the run group were not far behind but once again were mysteriously beaten to the task by the time travelling walkers.

Task Taped

This evening we returned to The Rowans Day Centre for part 2 of the painting task that we started 3 weeks ago. This centre specialises in the rehabilitation of brain injured patients . Its always a rewarding and happy experience at this centre and to be able to assist in any way we can makes it even more pleasurable.

We were warmly met by Debbie at the task who quickly set us to work with masking tape , paint and brushes. The team worked quickly and efficiently with minimal paint sloshing and maximum precision along some sharp outlines provided by the masking team along the endless corridors and door frames.

Anne and Ros were so busy chatting that their paint brushes rolled away from them and had to be reeled in when time was up. Gill wanted to come back Saturday and Nick was so keen to avoid the fitness session that he continued painting and tidying up.

Streaky side to exercise

After being hailed on and having to abandon any idea of an outside fitness session last week the team were treated to the luxury and warmth of an inside cushty one this week .

One of my favourite ideas is to get the team to work in pairs. Not only is this a great way of motivating each other but it is usually a noisy and entertaining experience too . This week did not disappoint !

With abs, planks , squats and ski jumps it was an energetic choreographic chaos of activity that appeared to be endured but enjoyed by all.

The team were also industrious in trying to capture our '30' photo in celebration of GG 50th area launching in Solihull on March 20th . Worthing was the 30th area. With an abundance of arms, legs and bodies in all sorts of appropriate and in appropriate positions this bespoke task was abandoned until next week!

Satin or Satanic running

The return run was particularly enjoyable with some great effort running by everyone and some impressive loopage and commitment by the front runners to stay connected with all the group.

I absolutely expected to look around and find the walkers gone and find them already arrived back at the start before us but by some miracle of a time warp we managed to avoid this and regain some pride. We finished with some stretching and press ups.

Happy 2nd Birthday GoodGym Worthing

Thanks to Beth's timely reminder it was, in fact the 2nd anniversary of GoodGym Worthing. In honour of this together with Jay's Birthday we will be celebrating in 2 weeks time on Monday 25th March with a fish and chip supper and possibly a mere hint of a tipple too !

More details to follow ...

A warm welcome to Worthing next week

Next week Helena will be covering for me whilst Nick and I take a short break on the Costa del Sol. Its all looking good for a great evening with an interesting new task at St Clares community hub with an inspirational run leader. Thank you to Helena for covering and taking care of my group.

Emulsional Similarities

Take a glance at this run report form this evenings activities in Tower Hamlets and observe some obvious similarities even with the indoor fitness session!

I love the concept of getting physically and mentally fit whilst combining it with helping others. I run most days.
