Portsmouth News....

  • We had a special message from Laura who thanked us for keeping her fit during her pregnancy. She had been planning to walk tonight's task but has been told to rest & start her maternity leave!
  • We wished Rachel, Maura, Mel and Judy good luck for the Bognor 10km on Sunday - we look forward to hearing about that on Wednesday.
  • We said a temporary goodbye to Tony (modelling his new black t-shirt tonight) who is off to compete in the Monarch's Way - 620 miles in 2 weeks. Track him here, chuck him a few quid sponsor money here! We will hear all about his adventures in June!
  • We welcomed Rachel back to the group - she's looking to move into Portsmouth (good choice) and is currently looking for a room to rent so please get in touch if you know of anyone with a spare room - sure the GoodGym community can help with this!
  • There will be 2 DDay related community missions 8-12 on Saturday 8th June and Sunday 9th June - look out for those coming up on the website soon!

Tonight's Run

Jo lead an elite running group (the splinter group) of herself, Rosie and Rachel who were armed with sandpaper to get rid of the graffiti that had appeared on the Parkletics bench on Friday. They then had the challenge of hot footing it up Fratton Road to come and join us for the main task where the rest of us had got stuck in with the main task... sorting donations at Naomi House.

Sam and Holly got stuck into their favourite task in the back room - tagging and hanging. Sam may be getting promoted to steaming so she will be leading a recruitment process for the next tagger!

Everyone else started emptying the donations bags and sorting them into their different categories. We were instructed to look out specifically for summer dresses which are in short supply but big demand! As usual we found some unusual donations, Vicki slipped into her role as stylist finding an elasticated dress - perfect for eating out! Jen was a little freaked out by the celery holder with the face that was on the shelf beside our sorting area and Tony had a bit too much fun modeling some of the clothes. India found a stamp collection and Jo found some educational reading...

The time went super quick as usual and we headed back to the community centre via St Mary's for a quick bit of sprints and fitness. Plus a discussion of potential upcoming races - pieces of 8 (6th Oct) and festive half (22nd Dec) being popular choices. Enter here with the fitness festival discount code! If you don't fancy the half at Christmas, we will need a cheer squad and extra friends for a festive feed afterwards!

And another Wednesday is over. Thanks team for your eternal enthusiasm and sense of fun. We're at Baffins Pond next week for some fresh air and time with the trees.
