Life isn't perfect but your scrunching can be. So why leave it on the beach?

Report written by Julie Corbin

This was a rewarding morning. The team collected bags of rubbish, recycling and heaps of glass. Lovely team to work and chat to. - Julie

A big welcome to Julie and her first community mission. It was great to see everybody ansd Vicki was very happy to see jenny & Brian in the flesh and not on a Zoom. Thanks to Rachel for the last minute sign-up who arrived by bike. Hope you got a good workout.

We collected about eight bags of rubbish from the Park and Ride/Tipner foreshore. Recycling rubbish came home with John & Vicki, while general waste was take home by Jenny & Brian.

We had created a couple of bottle caches to collect on our way back to the start. Weirdly, they had all disappeared and we can only that a member of the public had deposited them in the bottle bank around the corner.

Some notable finds were some old rope, a baseball cap, a slipper & insole and a pair of Kylie's old hot pants. We came to the conclusion that they had been removed intentionally after Brian discover a used condom, glad to see that safety was been adhered to. - John

Tipner shore beach clean

Sun 23 Jan 10:30 am
Portsmouth Park & Ride, Tipner Lane, Portsmouth, PO2 8AN
Remove washed-up rubbish from the shoreline

There is always a lot of rubbish washed onto the shore at Tipner, so bring a large bag or bucket as well as gloves. I will bring litter pickers for those who don't have their own.

We will meet at the Park & Ride and then walk across to the shore.

If you want to link exercise to this task, you can take part in the friendly Run Walk Local Portsmouth 5k or 2k at 9:30 at Hilsea Lido before meeting at 10:30.

Roots of our labour

Wed 19 Jan
Report written by Katie Carew-Robinson

First visit of the New Year to the Miltoncross garden.

We started with a game of domes and dishes with a narrow victory by the yellow team! That got the heart rates up ready for raking, digging, picking and moving.

Maura filled a bag with litter including a sports water bottle and flowers / that had come over from the graveyard.

Charlotte got an unexpected workout from the heavy leaf bag, Rosie kept piling up the leaves and branches while Jen got her favourite job of chopping down a tree! Rachel was collecting the branches and the litter that was unearthed.

Tony pulled up the decking which Sam, Angela and Jo got their 10000 steps in just by taking it around to the bins.

A very productive evening with the area looking so much clearer than when we first went there.
