On a day celebrating unity across Europe we did some hard labour being liberal with the paint, never conservative with how we lend a hand. Other areas will be green with envy (independent verification may be required). Disclaimer: other political parties are available. Thanks Val for your impressive punning!

Never mind D-Day, we were all about G-Day

Well, everyone wanted to be in Portsmouth today. Sadly, we didn't get the Queen or any of the heads of state to visit GoodGym after the DDay75 celebrations on the seafront but we did have Jay visiting from Worthing (scout badge now awarded!) and Judy being Queen 50 celebrating her 50th good deed by wearing the stylish good deeds cap. Look forward to seeing you modelling the black t-shirt Judy! We also had 2 new recruits tonight: Kat, who's recently moved to the area and Matt who works for the National Lottery who have just given GoodGym a grant to improve the website (much appreciated), he lives locally & wanted to experience GoodGym for himself. Please go and give them a cheer on their profiles and welcome them to the gang!

"Thumbs" Tracy Dean also met her namesake "Musical" Tracey Dean - they look quite excited about it in the photo!

As usual for our long run we had 2 groups - the so-called slow group beat the faster group to the Lido and all of us managed to make it there before 7 this week - good work all round!

Tonight there was a "Just Swim" session happening while we were there so we were kept out of the changing rooms. Jo and Judy did hang around the gents for the evening, painting the window frames. Maura, Mel and Tracey gave the remaining single coated benches another lick of paint. When everyone else had moved the other picnic benches to the opposite side of the pool they set to finish off the graffiti wall - it was fully scraped down and then painted white so it can be re-graffitied (is that a word?) in the future.

As usual the time flew, scrapers were almost sparking with the enthusiasm and most of the paint ended up on the wall. Special mention to Matt who definitely got more paint on himself than the rest of the group put together. Every bit of kit worn to GoodGym tells a story!

Look forward to seeing you all again soon. Don't forget we have got lots of community missions coming up on days other than Wednesday and also a social training run to celebrate midsummer. We'll be back at the Lido on July 3rd, get your painting clothes ready!
