On 28th July the organisers wrote:
On 21st July the government released specific guidance surrounding sports events including running events.

Further to this release we have now had it confirmed by the council and police that events can now legally take place.

We have adapted our event plan to ensure we have an accepted model which mitigates risk at every opportunity. It remains our number one proprity to keep everyone safe at all times.

We now believe we have a robust solution and have had confirmation from both the police and fire service that these meet requirements for the event to go ahead.

The New Forest Marathon will now take place on 19th and 20th of September at St Giles House, a 6000 acre private estate, with a matrix of farm tracks, open fields and stunning views.
The venue is located just 10 miles north west of Ringwood.
The event will take place 'behind closed doors' with reduced numbers and no spectators. It has been restructured across two days to ensure we can offer the highest level of safe social distancing and offer all race distances this amazing opportunity. The venue is being opened exclusively for NFM runners, creating a truly unique running experience. It's going to be a belter!
Covid safe measures include:
Using private, secure and sterile outside event space and uncrowded rural estate tracks
One way systems around Race Village
Sterillisation zones on entry and exit
Significant reduction in number of entrants, maximising social distancing and increasing flow
To maximise the space available races will be split across two days
Entry will be restricted to runners only
No spectators, this will be a 'behind closed doors' event
Pre-entry health check guidance
Specially designed Race Village to maximise the throughput of runners in a socially distanced way reducing opportunity for gatherings
Optimisation of space in the start/finish area with one way systems
Runners will start in single file with individual start times using technology to ensure runners leave the Race Village with safe 10 metre gaps between them
Course especially designed with wide tracks where possible to maximise space available
Social distancing ‘Track Rules’
Full staffed covid trained medical centre on site
Event will be well staffed with appropriate PPE
Rapid track and trace systems established using data collected from chip technology
Runners will be sent out their race numbers in post to reduce likelihood of fomite transmission
Video briefings and communication including rules
Self serve drink stations (Runners encouraged to bring own drink where possible)
Single file finish line procedures
Toilets regularly cleaned and sterilised by professional cleaning firm
