Welcome to GoodGym York 🙌
🏃♀️🏃We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. Every Monday evening we meet to get active and do a physical task to help the charities or community organisations in our city.
TONIGHT'S TASK🌳
We’ll be heading to Fulford Ings to help clear the Himalayan Balsam.
This is hands on work, so please bring gardening gloves if you have them. It may also be sensible to bring some bug spray!
WHERE WE MEET 🎒
From January 2026 we will be meeting outside the Ackhorne Pub on St Martin’s Lane, YO1 6LR (just off Micklegate) . We can leave our bits and bobs in their office, which is secure.
🚲There is cycle parking nearby on both Micklegate and at the Priory Street Centre (as you approach the centre a 10 bay covered cycle parking is to the left in the car park) On street parking is available on Priory Street. These are all only a couple of minutes walk to the new meeting point.
RUNNING AND WALKING WITH US 👏
GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities. If you prefer to walk let us know and we can arrange a walking group.
👍We always have a back-marker too so nobody will get left behind - no matter what your pace is.
POST-RUN SOCIAL 🍻
We will finish the group session back at The Ackhorne Pub on St Martin's Lane so why not stay for some liquid refreshment and a good chat?

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Vicky Hearson (she/her) by email at vicky@goodgym.org.
The total distance of this group run is 7km.
Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.
GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
