In tonight's task: Goodgym Greenwich foil the Rhubarb plot at Prince Phillip Maritime Collection Centre...
An unseasonably mild 5th November saw 8 GoodGymers make their way to Prince Phillip Maritime Collection Centre in Kidbrooke, where our tasks often involve gilded ceilings, or work in the thriving community garden.
A veritable rainbow of fireworks guided us on our run, and once at the task we sparked into life in the community garden area, cutting back some amazing smelling but slightly overgrown rosemary, weeding the woodchip paths, and clearing wilted tomato plants. A sad part of the task involved removing a giant sunflower (a definite sign that Winter is Coming...) but a cut back of the huge Rhubarb plant provided a great harvest we'll be stalking about for weeks.
The run home loomed, and we managed not to crumble, however being accompanied by the flash, bangs and whizzes of fireworks, poor Rhubarb was unable to utter the immortal lines of "It's all gone quiet..."
On Sunday we've got Clean up Charlton and next wednesday we're leafleting for Age Exchange.
Thank you all & catch up soon!

On Sunday morning a group of GoodGymers met at Westcombe Woodlands, a secret haven tucked away behind Maze Hill station. As before, there were plenty of overgrown brambles to tackle on the slopes, so we got to work with our secateurs and forks to clear some space for the trees to flourish. Whilst most of the group attacked the brambles, another group, including Ashton, continued work on building new steps up by the pond.
90 minutes later, after much discussion of firework puns and several scratches, it was time to head off to enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Until next time! 🎆🌿

This morning 8 of us joined forces with the Friends of Hornfair Park for their monthly Talk and Tidy to tackle the areas just outside the park where the litter blows in. Before too long we found a few hauls of litter which kept us busy, chatting away until our bags were full and we were ready for a hot drink. We found a stash of mushrooms and a stash of cash...well a £5 note but not bad!
After a photo we headed over to Frilly's cafe to enjoy a hot drink together, and quite a crowd we were! Thank you everyone, a lovely way to start the weekend and special happy birthday wishes to Ivar!
Tomorrow we've got Westcombe Woodlands and next weds we're back at Prince Philip Collections Centre.
Until next time! 👋🏻 Rachel

Once again back at Mycenae Gardens, this time as the only Goodgymer. Today was all about weeding, trying to root out troublemakers. The weeds were really growing on me—in the worst way. Some were easy pickings, while others had deep-rooted attitudes and refused to leaf quietly. I pulled and tugged, giving those pesky plants the boot from the bed. Literally a groundbreaking effort and I left feeling re-leafed.
Please see a medical professional if you’re unable to stop using puns.
