All Aboard The Hogsweed Express!

Wednesday 24th April

Written by Jen Stoneham

As some of us missed out on our Hogwarts letters, we weren't able to apparate or head to our task by broomstick this evening, so a gentle jog was in order.

Our task this evening was to empty out the planters and re-home the veggies in some plant pots until a new home for the raised beds can be found.

Our team of budding Herbology students could have done with some help from Madame Sprout, as identifying what was weed and what was vegetable was a bit of a challenge. Hence the confusion between Hogs Weed and Hogwarts, inspiring the run report this evening.

Richard, under the careful supervision of Mini-GGer Alice appeared to have cast a Geminio charm, uncovering an ever-multiplying harvest of potatoes!

Katie and Sammy were on strawberry duty and were able to salvage most of the plants. I would guess the Sorting Hat would put these guys in Ravenclaw, they had to use a lot of smarts to ensure they were saving the right plants! Sammy also discovered Professor Moody's missing eye and one of Aragog's babies in the soil!

Laura and Dave were on litter picking duties, and were able to use the new extendable litter pickers to Accio litter! with a summoning spell.

Hagrid would have been mighty pleased with our groundskeeping skills this evening, well done everyone!

Giving a Little Bit of Art and Soul.

Wednesday 14th February

Written by Jen Stoneham

This week we visited the Gibson Centre to give the Scouting room a good old scrub and sort out. Thank you to Katie for finding this last minute task and providing such an organised list of jobs to be done - scrubbing them off the board as we went was incredibly satisfying.

Lucy and Sinéad seemed to be in their artistic element clearing out two massive art cupboards, cleaning them down and restocking all the supplies. It looks so good after they were done!

Louisa was certainly the sharpest GoodGymer this evening, giving the electric pencil sharpener the run of its life, whilst Katie and Dave added to the homeless spider population by wiping away an insane number of cobwebs.

No Mr Pond I expect you thrive...

Sunday 7th January

Written by Katie London

6 Goodgymers , 2 mini goodgymers and a dog were on a mission. They had a licence to till the soil and as there was Dr No flowers we got to riddle the casino soil-al for glass! Goodgym has a Goldeneye for recycling and so we repurposed an old paddling pool with a view to a line our pond. Nick was the man with golden trowel clearing the stones as Lynn and Dave made the hole; Diamond diggers are forever. Live and let rake was the job of the minigoodgymers as they gathered leaves for Dave's allotment so he can only mulch twice. Their moonraking was Octofabulous. Surprisingly we found the waterbutt was not enough to fill the pond but Lynn predicted the precipitation skyfall would fill it and tomorrow's forecast never lies. We left the garden a Quantum of solace for the minibeast and thunderbugs to enjoy.

Did you get all 14?

Friday Drinks

Friday 21st July 2023

Written by Dave

After a hard week of growing and soaking up the sun, the flowers had a knees up Friday. Many drinks and good times were had and there is photo evidence that will be shared around the water butt next week! And even though it wasn't a litter pick, it wouldn't be a GG task without finding a sock and a shoe!!

Beavering away to keep the line

Saturday 8th July 2023

Written by Katie London

3 goodgymers used hammer, tent pegs and tape to create the start and finishing lines for the little beavers and squirrels taking part in sports day. Mel and Jane then made themselves very useful refilling the buckets of water used for the water relays.
