It was real summer vibes in Hounslow last night as we kicked off a lovely sunny Wednesday group run.
Mindful of the heat we set off steadily for Cavendish School with the challenge of cutting back the hedges. As always, when we arrived we realised it was going to be a little more complicated than we first thought!
The hedges in question stretched along the length of the carpark and there was a whole other row of them that needed sorting alongside the road too. The problem was that we weren't, lets say, overburdened with tools. Still, stretching resources is where GG excels! So between us we grabbed little secateurs, garden waste bins, brooms and got to work. After a bit of hunting about we even found a couple more pairs of (somewhat rusty but still useful) shears and suddenly we were cooking on gas.
While Sevan, Bet, Jonny, Luis and Pippa wove their magic in the carpark, Alan, Kash and Chris took on the challenge by the roadside - watched by several approving drivers and passersby. Always good to have the red tshirts on show doing something great!
If you can't get enough of that feel good feeling, we have lots of opportunities to get involved coming up. Next week we're back at Cultivate to help more with their move. This weekend you can sign up to volunteer at Osterley parkrun and if you fancy doing the double, help with the pre 10k warm up too - would love to see you there! If you're in the mood for something social, the annual South V North rounders game is taking place on Clapham Common, the more the merrier!
