Sedimentary, my dear Watstone

Wednesday 8th July

Written by Laura

What a lovely evening! In very humid weather, Helen led us up to Bedford Fields with a bit of Japanese style slow jogging...we got in formation & recreated the craze (& felt like proper wally's).

We met the rest of the gang at Bedford & got to work clearing the stones from the path. We then weeded the edges to finish the job.

We spent a lot of time chatting tonight...it was too hot to work. That's our excuse anyway!

Well done to Rachael on her 105th task tonight.

Weed Warriors

Wednesday 24th June

Written by Laura

On a hot hot hot evening, Rachael led the team on a chatty, sweaty jog along the ridge up to Bedford Fields. They weeded, wood chipped & ate gooseberries in the shade.

Thanks to Rachael for leading & to everyone else for turning up in this heat!

Welcome to Christopher who completed his first session.

Floss like a Boss

Wednesday 10th June

Written by Laura

What an amazing group we had this evening with 9 newcomers all joining us!

We headed to Bedford Fields for lots and lots of weeding! It was lucky we had 22 people, because for an hour, all we did was pull out the sticky weed & bindweed & although we made a good dent in it, there's always more weeding to do.

We found the strangest thing amongst the weeds, a pair of false teeth! Now that's a new one.

Welcome to James, Joanne, Lukas, Emily, Fabiha, Aden, Abi, James & Deepa! And thanks to Erica for bringing more work colleagues! We hope to see you all again soon.

Soil Mates

Wednesday 13th May

Fixing cupboards, digging paths, pulling weeds & woodchipping...there were lots of varied tasks for the gang tonight at Bedford Fields. The path group worked hard & cleared the whole path, ready for woodchipping. The weeding group cleared many different beds for planting this week. I was absolutely covered in mud by the time I finished, I think that was my muddiest task yet! It was great to see Amy again & to meet Aorvi tonight. We hope to see you again soon.

Good work team!

Raising the Woof

Saturday 25th April

Written by Laura

Today, in glorious sunshine we headed to Bedford Fields to build a new greenhouse. Helen followed the instructions & I was her assistant:)

I brought my two little dogs but it was a little hot for them & they were desperate to be the centre of attention as usual.

Happy 250th Good Deed Helen!!

Saturday 21st March

Written by Laura

Saturday was super Helen's 250th good deed for GoodGym Leeds!!!

Our group just wouldn't be the same without her. She's not only a super runner, she supports the whole team, plans amazing runs, leads sessions & deputises for me. Thanks for all you do :)

We headed to Bedford Fields to help set up for their mini spring fair. We then took part in Fruitworks tree grafting workshop & we all left with 2 grafted apple trees. I took one Katy & one Bramley variety. We were taught 2 techniques in the beautiful spring sunshine. It was a great afternoon, thanks Beth!
