In the words of Erica, Helen had 'pure steamer joy' tonight whilst watching the eclipse through her veg steamer! Luckily Adam also brought some eclipse glasses so he shared them with 14 of us! Thanks Adam! We got a good view at the beginning & end of the session which was amazing to see.
We headed to OWLS allotments to fix raised beds & to do our usual weeding. We also had a journalism student come to interview us about all things GoodGym. Adam & I both got interviewed...let's hope we come across OK!
We got everyone's hopes up on the way back as we were going to get ice cream but sadly the queue was too long! Next time.
It was nice to welcome Maya, a member of the Young Leaders group who started tonight. Welcome!

Adam got to try a new tool tonight...an extra long tree branch cutter (not it's official name). Needless to say, he was very pleased & is fast getting a reputation as our resident tool operator.
We were cutting the weeping willow tree branches to use them to wrap them around & protect the new fruit trees. This was not as easy as it looked & we made slow progress but our newcomers did manage to finish one off. Helen & Katie trimmed tomatoes & we also did a bit of weeding.
We even managed to avoid most of the rain, the runners got a bit wet, but mostly it stayed dry.
We had 4 lovely new members tonight, welcome to Trish, Kevin, Heidi & James. We hope to see you again soon.

What a great evening we've had with the GoodGym Leeds gang tonight.
Compost moving, weeding & laying membrane were the name of the game up at OWLS allotments. There were also discussions about ants, cricket, musicals, football & Carole.
We then headed to Heart for a drink afterwards & discussed Sarah's interview tomorrow at BBC Radio Leeds where she'll be talking all things GoodGym. We can't wait to listen Sarah!

What a lovely evening! In very humid weather, Helen led us up to Bedford Fields with a bit of Japanese style slow jogging...we got in formation & recreated the craze (& felt like proper wally's).
We met the rest of the gang at Bedford & got to work clearing the stones from the path. We then weeded the edges to finish the job.
We spent a lot of time chatting tonight...it was too hot to work. That's our excuse anyway!
Well done to Rachael on her 105th task tonight.

Two questions were posed tonight:
Is that a cow or a sheep?
Are leaks just big spring onions?
The answers to those questions are as follows: Sheep & No, but they re in the same family!
Tonight, we were at Meanwood Farm for wheel hoeing, planting leaks and weeding. We love it down there and always get a good variety of tasks. Surprisingly though, we weren't asked to turn compost for the first time....Helen's disappointment was palpable.
Another great evening, thanks all.

We are a small charity with limited resources, so jobs like this often fall by the wayside. It helps us to continue to focus on our core work, but also with compost, it means we can have less inputs and save money
