Geranium Warfare

A massive 22 Yorkies turned up at West Bank Park on a drizzly evening to tackle a variety of tasks

• Digging out compost bins
• Cutting back geraniums
• Finishing off the big Yew tree's haircut from a previous task.

On arrival at the compost bin, a bonus few extra tasks emerged:

• Removing a massive tree that someone had put 'into' the compost bin, blocking all access to the compost.
• Finding my house key which fell out of my pocket somewhere between the meeting point, the pergola and the compost bin!

Michael, Pete and Ben got straight to sawing up the compost bin tree. By the time I was back from retracing my steps to find the missing key, the bin was clear and the team were already digging out compost and barrowing it back to the park entrance for collection. Michael even managed a bonus good deed by being the one to find the key!

In little more than an hour, they'd run out of compost bags and so headed back to base.

Over at the pergola, Ed and Debs were half way up the Yew tree with saws. Nikki had brought her own extendible loppers along, meaning that she could keep her feet firmly on the ground.

Our third team tackled "millions of geraniums", and helped the tree team to cut their discarded branches into more manageable sizes.

The tonne bags filled up quickly and it was soon time to drag them to the entrance for collection and return the tools to the shed.

Kristina was really pleased with how much we achieved and is looking forward to having us back over the next few weeks.
