SITC Dawn To Dusk - 10K/Half/Marathon/Ultra

on the training course for the oldest marathon runner!

Sorry, the deadline to sign up has passed.

The annual Sikhs in the City Dawn To Dusk is a multiple lap race comprising three distances: Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon 50km+ all starting at Sunrise and finishing by Sunset.

There is also a 10km race that happens on the same day starting at 11am.

Each lap is officially measured at 2.014k and is registered as the Fauja Singh Training Course.

There is a feeding station at the start/finish of each lap serving drinks, chocolates, fruit, tea/coffee and onion bhaji!

The race is on the nearest convenient Sunday to the shortest day of the year while trying to avoid clashes with other local races.

The route is wheelchair friendly and mostly on good tarmac surface

Races start at 8:04am - Sunrise

  • If you complete 11 laps of a 2.014 Km course you will receive a Half marathon medal
  • Complete 21 laps to receive a Marathon medal
  • Complete at least 25 laps and you will have earned an Ultra medal.

You can run until 3:54pm - Sunset

Chip timed so you can see how you did each lap later as well as on the big electronic board as you pass the Start/Finish .

Rewards include a unique medal, event T-shirt, goody bag and a chance to meet and have a photo with the world's oldest marathon runner - Fauja Singh BEM.

The event has all the usual support of paramedics, marshals and is fully insured. The course is certified for distance and the Marathon/Ultra will count towards your 100 Marathon Club total.

There is also free parking along the route but the organisers ask if you can park at least 100m away from the start/finish which is close to GPS reference IG4 5PS.

Since this is a run set up by a charity and run by volunteers, they are calling for help on the race day. There will be plenty of cheering to be done throughout the day. In particular, they will need volunteers to help entrants affix their timing chip before their race (06:45 - 07:45). If you're free at this time (and if you are starting at 8.04) please come along and help - tea and coffee will be available!
