9 fabulous runners ran 5km to be fashion models for the MHA Trust Charity Shop!

It was pretty darn cold last night yet all you lovely people still made it out for a run to do good! Nice! We welcomed Ben back from his holiday and he kindly bought some treats back from Copenhagen for our Greenwich Goodies this week! Cheers Ben!

We dropped our bags off in the ridiculously warm uni building... I think everyone just wanted to curl up and stay in there for 90 minutes... BUT NO... miles had to be run and good deeds had to be done! Oh looks like I'm a poet and I didn't... realise.

We went and did a warm up on the grass. A few laps of the quad followed by a little race with a twist. Everyone paired up and you had to crawl through the other person's legs, stand up and let them crawl through yours until you start moving forward. The winners were obviously the twins but I think they had a slight advantage due to the length of their legs.. the other person barely even needed to crouch down! In case we weren't warmed up after that, we did a few basic drills to finish off while we waited for Henry to put his shoes on! And then off we ran!

Strike a pose... VOGUE

We got to the MHA Trust and Toni was there to greet us, camera at the ready. The charity shop has a Facebook page that they use to promote the items so they asked if we would mind putting some of the clothes on and striking a pose or two for a good cause. Of course we didn't mind, this is right up our street!

Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada

Everyone got really stuck in which was amazing. Christian and Amy opted for some fabulous fur coats, Ben had a super smart blazer and tie combo, Vickie put on a cute waterproof, Henry kept it classy in a jumper, Giuseppe found a nice hidden gem in the form of a mustard coat, Steve went for a fetching striped jacket and Alex dug out some denim!! The fashion show was in full swing. The model inspiration photos I sent out earlier in the day clearly worked guys, those poses were spot on, nice job!

After Toni had the money shots she needed, we got to work in the shop cleaning and tidying before it was time to head back.

Ballet booty burn

We got back to base for the fitness session and this time it was all about those GLUTES. It is really important to work on that posterior chain- when people go to the gym, they tend to prioritise the front of the body (chest, biceps, quads and abs) but it is equally, if not more, important (especially for runners) to work on the rear body muscles so I'm talking the hamstrings, glutes, calves and the muscles in the back too.

Ballet barre workouts are actually taking the fitness industry by storm right now and rightly so because it is so good for your core strength and tightening those leg muscles so I thought we'd give it a go. We found a nearby fence to grab on to for balance and then things got elegant. We started off with a squat, then squat onto the toes (plié then relevé) then extended the legs into a standing calf raise, then down back to standing! If you do it nice and slow it soon starts to burn. We then did some nice side leg lifts followed by some rear leg lifts to really get those glutes and hamstrings fired up. There were some pretty good efforts all round.. so those ballet dancers in the Nutcracker this Christmas better watch their super muscly backs.

One more sprint around the grounds and then we were done! We went to get our bags, had some yummy Daim bars as a starter and then went to the Cutty Sark pub for our monthly social! I know models don't usually tend to eat a lot but we made an exception for one evening. But it's back on the lettuce today ok guys! Steve don't worry if you can't afford lettuce, you can have some cress, it's like 20p.

We spoke about various different events that we could do. Christian mentioned climbing which would be super fun, there also might be a Christmas fun run in Greenwich that'd be great to do together so I have made a GoodGym Greenwich Facebook Group to discuss all this fun stuff so please join it here!

Well thanks for a great time again last night guys! Thank you for turning up in the freezing cold. I will miss you next week! But don't worry, you are in great hands with Adele, she is looking forward to seeing you all again! And I'll see you in 2 weeks!
