☔ 16 gumptious GoodGymmers braved the rain for tonight's group run. We congratulated the hardy folk who ran Snake Lane yesterday and were back for more running today. We also celebrated Tay's 52nd good deed, achieved in an impressively short amount of time. We hope that the cloak provided some warmth/protection from the rain 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿After discussing our favourite Welsh people/things in honour of St David's Day (Dylan Thomas, daffodils, Pembrokeshire and Welsh Rarebit were just a few highlights), it was time for our party pace group to head off, led by Barbara. The rest of us did a short(ish) warm up then headed off 🥳

🚸After a last minute change of plan, we headed to Park Grove School where Vicky met us with plenty of jobs to keep us busy 👍

🌳Team Willow were sawing/lopping the willow trees, continuing on from previous tasks there. Said willow was then carried to the wildlife area, a job that required much navigating in order not to take too many people out whilst doing it. Halfway through the task, we discovered that Vicky or Nicky (probably Nicky) had misunderstood which but of yellow wall the willow was to be thrown over. More navigational effort was therefore required to ensure the willow was finally in the right place 🧭

🏋️‍♀️🏋️‍♂️Team Willow's resources were reduced somewhat when some members were recruited to join Team Skip. Other members initially declined the invitation, preferring to continue to wield saws than swap to heavy lifting. Team Skip quickly completed their task though, and soon all the required items were safely in the skip 💪

🌲Meanwhile, Team Woodchip did a stirling job raking, shovelling, transporting and smoothing yet more woodchip over some particularly muddy areas. It appears that York currently has a surplus of woodchip, given how many of our recent tasks have involved it. This one felt particularly useful though, as we buried the slippery mud under piles of woodchip, hopefully preventing accidents and protecting the ground too - win 🙌

👏With the willow sawed, the skip filled and the woodchip spread, it was time for some fitness. For the party pacers, this was accomplished en route back to base. The rest of us took advantage of the school playground to play some school games. Starting with British Bulldog (which Lucy won impressively), we moved onto Stuck in the Mud 🎯

🚿We then enjoyed a rainy run back through town, dreaming of a lovely warm shower, dry clothes and a cup of tea/pint of beer. On meeting up with our party pacer friends, we stretched and parted ways, for said drying out and warming up ☕ 🍻

📣Thank you everyone, for coming and getting stuck in on such a rainy night. What a bunch of heroes 🌈
