We were welcomed by Matthew and his colleague from the St James the Deacon Church.

They knew we love keeping fit.

How far did you run to get here? - Churchwarden Matthew

The word is that we are now spring bulbs planting experts.

What other bulbs planting have you got planned for today? - Church volunteer

We welcomed Mariola, who came to give GoodGym a try for the first time. Give her a big cheer!

The weather was definitely on our side today. Warmed up by the rays we were eager to start. Matthew and his colleague gave us precise instructions as to where they would like crocuses (around the cross at the front) and daffodils (in the corners of the front lawn and around trees in the vicarage garden) to be planted.

With two spades, three garden forks and one hand trowel in the arsenal we split up into twos and trios and made a start.

Michael and Debs took a garden fork and went to execute in the vicarage garden, where Michael performed some top-notch bulbs juggling.

Barbara, Leanne and Katie worked around the cross. They used one spade to cut long strips of turf and rolled them as a carpet, before meticulously placing bulbs, the growing tips up, and covering them back with turf.

Meanwhile Michal used the hand trowel to cut three letters 'H' in the turf. He then peeled back the turf flaps, placed daffodil bulbs in and closed the flaps firming them gently into place.

On the other side of the car park David, Mariola, Laura and Cara used the remaining tools to plant more daffodils.

Since there was only 250 bulbs to plant it took us less than 30 min to complete the task.

Once finished it was time to assemble for a socially distanced group photo.

After the photo was taken Barbara and Cara went on their bikes to cycle home, Michael and Debbs ran towards Woodthorpe and the rest of us ran together towards the city centre.
