Strava Not Strata!

Wednesday 27th March

Written by Laura

It's been an eventful day at GoodGym Leeds. Today, Helen and Adam generously gave up their time to head to the studio at Yorkshire Voices to do a live segment on the benefits of exercise. They did a great job explaining what we do at GoodGym, well done guys.

Tonight we met at Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre and had a 4.25Km run around Headingley. We then did a further promotional interview for Yorkshire Voices, where I accidentally talked about the benefits of the Strata app & their partnership with GoodGym. Rachael then politely told me I'd said Strata not Strava! (Strata are actually the builders I bought my house from)! Luckily, the filmmakers can edit that out & Rachael then talked about Strava the fitness app :)

The footage will be shared soon!

We finished off with a Headingley litter pick.

Well done everyone, it was a bit different today!

Running a Little Latte

Saturday 2nd March

Written by Laura

This morning 9 GoodGymers braved the bad weather to do Parkrun and a litterpick.

After joining the 795th Woodhouse Moor parkrun, we went for coffee and pastry at Coffee on the Crescent and then hit the streets for a 45 minute litter pick. The streets of Headingley were pretty bad litter wise so we got 8 full bags!

Welcome to Kirsty who attended her first session, it was great to meet you.

Well done to everyone else :)

Litter Things Make a Big Difference

Wednesday 7th February

Written by Laura

Tonight 9 GoodGymers braved the cold temperatures to go out and help our local community.

One group led by Helen ran the streets of Headingley/Kirkstall & finished delivering the OWLS leaflets we started last week.

I led another group to do a local litter pick & we managed to get 4 bags full. Uzair & Ele nearly turned GoodGym into Fight Club as they got rather competitive with each other when picking!!

It was really nice to get together at the end to have a drink in the Heart bar. We should do that more often!

Welcome to newcomers Ele & Annie, it was great to meet you guys :)

If Goodgym can't, then who CAN?

Wednesday 19th January 2022

Written by Rob Riley (he/him)

On Wednesday 4 Goodgymers braved cold January weather and met in West Park ready to clear litter from the surrounding streets. We welcomed Zara on her first group run, well done on completing your first task!

We decided to walk this task as this gave the best opportunity to catch up and to get to know each other - to share our experiences of Goodgym and our current training. We are all looking forward to painting chairs at next weeks task.

Excellent teamwork was used to remove the crushed cans from the road, as they were being uncooperative and didn't want to be binned. After 45 mins of plogging we had sweeped through the streets and removed all of the litter that was in sight.

Well done everyone and we look forward to seeing you at next weeks task.
