We spray, we play...

Leeds Report written by Helen Noyes

Nine GoodGymers met up at HEART in Headingley for today's task, deep cleaning the Tiny Boo nursery and other community spaces. The nursery looked like it had been ransacked by a herd of sticky fingered toddlers (which is an accurate description of its purpose). We set to it, spraying and wiping, vacuuming and mopping, tidying and lining up the cars in rows ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš•. Everyone played to their strengths and Christian's passion appears to be clearing cobwebs from ceilings (he can visit my home anyday). A big welcome to Dilraj on her first attendence and well done to Sana on her first run with us. Once the areas were spick and span and we left our customary signature message on the chalkboard, we set off on a 4km chatty run around quiet roads and parks in Headingley. Well done everyone!

The paths have com-frey

Leeds Report written by Helen Noyes

Eight GoodGymers headed to Bedford Fields tonight to meet up with Beth and tackle today's task. She quickly set us up with assorted implements (including a bread knife) to clear the overgrown Comfrey edging the paths. We also tackled the bindweed that has been strangling the fruit trees and bushes and thinned out the mint. The air became minty fresh and we all started to think about our dinners...Finally, Beth told us about the living piano that is to be installed in the garden....a future project, perhaps for GoodGym! Tonight the runners clocked up 5km to help Chloe reach her 100km in 3 weeks target.

Ooh Aah, Just a Litter Bit....

Leeds Report written by Laura

With a nice big group of 15 GoodGymers, tonight we had two groups, one for runners & one for walkers and we all headed up to Rosebank to litter pick for Hyde Park Source.

We filled a whopping 15 purple bags full of weird & wonderful rubbish including jeans, knickers & a CCTV sign!

The area was much improved after we left, so well done to the whole team!

Welcome to 3 lovely newcomers Pik, Lana & Kerry. We hope to see you all again soon.

Our Silly Summer Social!

Leeds Report written by Laura

What a great night of silly fun we had last night at GoodGym Leeds!

It was the night of our summer social so 16 of us met at Heart & ran to Beckett's Park in Headingley. There, we met John who we met from Lighthouse Futures who'd volunteered to run a Dodgeball game for us. Firstly we did a warm up of scarecrow tag & then we had a dodgeball tournament. There was lots of drama with Jubz being targeted with balls, Leah being the last woman standing & Ben & Christian battling it out for the man of the match title! I think the picture of Ben hugging Helen gives you an idea of how competitive he got! It was a great workout & we all thanked John for running a really fun session.

We then finished off with a test of core & upper body strength by playing a game of human hungry hippos or hungry Goodgymers as we called it! This was a challenging game but it was hilarious to watch (maybe not as hilarious to actually be competing)! Well done all!

We finished off with a delicious picnic in the park where we ate a mix of savoury & sweet treats. Well done to Helen Noyes for bringing home made scones...yummy!

We also said a sad farewell to task force member Katie Lees who is leaving Leeds for a new life in Sheffield soon. We'll miss you Katie but thanks for all of your hard work for GoodGym Leeds. Don't forget to visit!

What a great night, thanks so much to everyone who came, we must do it again soon!
