This weekend marked the 1st anniversary of the fantastic Hornfair Junior Parkrun, and five enthusiastic GoodGymers: Jenny, Khai, Julian, Marta and myself joined the celebrations by volunteering in a variety of roles. As always, it was a fun and rewarding morning supporting the local running community. To mark the special occasion, Race Director Sheralee proposed a unique twist: a fun run for adults around the same course usually reserved for the junior runners. What made it extra special? This time, the kids took over as marshals, cheering us on with boundless energy and encouragement. A delightful role reversal that brought plenty of smiles! We did good, had fun, and enjoyed the strong sense of camaraderie that defines this wonderful community event. And what’s a birthday celebration without a few treats? There were cakes, chocolates, and sweets galore—fuel for runners and volunteers alike, and a sweet way to top off the morning!

This morning three Bexley Goodgymers helped out at the Hornfair Junior Parkrun in Greenwich. It was a lovely sunny but cold morning. We eventually found the breifing point and got to our posts ready for the off! The children were all fantastic runners and put 100% effort in to finnish! Well done to everyone who participated!

Lots of young runners for us to cheer, marshal and barcode-scan at Hornfair junior parkrun today.

Plus tailwalking to add an extra couple of kilometres to our January Challenge distance.

And afterwards a warming coffee at The Old Cottage Tearoom in Charlton Park.

The perfect start to our 9th birthday .

‘Tis the season and a man with a whit(ish) beard and dressed in (some) red and some (distinctly unelvish) helpers set out to spread some Christmas cheer at Hornfair park in Charlton. We were met by volunteer Angus in the rose garden who had with him a number of spare bulbs that had been generously been donated to the friends group and which Good Gym were there to help plant. John, Khai and Julian got straight down to work and 40 minuityes later what had seemed like an infinite supply of bulbs were in the ground ready to spread some fresh joy in spring.

Thanks are once again due to Good Gym resident punster Khai for another (Christmas) cracker of a pun.

It was great fun cheering the children and parents around the 2k course at Hornfair junior parkrun.

High fives and smiles galore!

We had fun helping at Hornfair Park junior parkrun.

We marshalled with giant foam hands giving high fives to the runners.

We did timekeeping at the finishing line.

We handed out finishing tokens.

We scanned barcodes to give everyone their results.

And we cheered a lot.
