Getting your steps in

Tuesday 26th March

Written by Martin R

Yesterday evening Gill David and myself went along to Azalea, to return all the boxes and bedding that the GG Luton team had moved on a group run a few months ago, back to the newly refurbished basement area. Our task hosts were very grateful to see us and we made light work of the task before us. It took us around 30 minutes to move all the goods from the 1st floor down 2 flights of stairs to the basement. It was sweaty work but we dud a good job and took a well deserved sit down at the end on the sofas that under all the bits we had moved. Well done team.

Azalea Angels

Wednesday 26th July 2023

7 GoodGymers met at the Azalea Offices where there was a big task ahead of us. The charity had planned to reorganise the offices and needed office furniture and boxes of resources moving. The contents of one office was to be moved down one floor, and the contents of another office was going upstairs. The team soon got the measure of the task and got stuck into moving desks and tables, empty and carrying filing cabinets, hoovering, carting boxes and crates full of miscellaneous items and helping with logistics. Despite some language challenges they all worked incredibly hard and the hosts at Azalea were so impressed with the amazing work and team spirit of our group of angels.

Crate Expectations

Wednesday 24th January

Written by David Mansfield

This week's group run didn't take us very far as the destination was just a few metres from our starting point.

The team went on a run through the town centre and back again to get warmed up for a challenging task.

We arrived at Azalea and were greeted by Gus who had our task waiting. The basement room was full of boxes that needed moving up two flights of stairs and stacked chairs that needed moving up three flights of stairs. The basement had previously been flooded and the whole room needed the builders in to strip out all the moldy plasterboard and make it good again.

The team worked well getting all the boxes out and upstairs, stacked neatly away in a small room, leaving plenty of space in the basement for the much needed work to commence.

To round off our evening of leg work we had a go at the Moby squat challenge and despite some complaints everyone survived with quads intact!

That task was top drawer

Wednesday 13th September 2023

Before this weeks group run 4 of Goodgym Luton's heroes dropped in at Azalea to help with the relocation and removal of some white goods and an old filing cabinet. Amir, Fredy and Assine got stuck in straight away carrying a fridge freezer up 2 flights of stairs, to its new home on the second floor. Before the guys caught their breath we were carrying an old filing cabinet back down the stairs to be taken out for collection at a later date. This was followed by some juggling of appliances a minor plumbing task (isolating the water supply) and the removal of a shelf. A quick tidy up later and after loading an old washing machine in to a car bound for the tidy tip, the awesome foursome said their goodbyes to Azalea and met up with some more of the Goodgym faithful for their weekly run. Great work gents.
