This months Park Run takeover, was given a little bit of extra sparkle ✨️ as Dani and Duncan not only came to help with set up, as part of the takeover, but they also both achieved to milestone of running their 50th Park Run. Gail and Sam joined them to get the event set up, an early start thats not for everyone, but they always do a fantastic job. Martin was marshalling and enjoyed cheering 👏 on all the runners 🏃‍♂️ as they passed him in the delightful April sunshine 🌞. After finishing their milestone run, Dani and Duncan 🎃 walked round the whole course again to share brownies with all the marshal's. Well done team on another successful takeover and well done to Milestone duo on the achievement.

Tonight, 9 of Luton Goodgyms finest came together to support Penrose roots to recovery. The team made there own way to the task, some running from town, and others making their own way. Tigger even parked up early then went for a cheeky 10k run 🏃‍♀️ beforehand.
We were welcomed by Lynne at Penrose with all the tools to get stuck in to turning over a vast bed, preparing it for planting potatoes 🥔. There were quite a few weeds to clear and the team cleared quite a few wheel barrow full. We didn't get to dig the trenches but we'll no doubt be back to support again soon. Great job team. You're all awesome.

This weeks group run saw the latest effort to Keep Britain Tidy by doing our bit to Keep Luton Tidy for the Great British Spring Clean.

Most importantly it was Gail's 50th task! Gail has been on the team since before GoodGym Luton started so we're fairly sure she's done more than 50! Definitely well deserving of a shiny new black shirt!

We took the long road up to Farley Hill, rising up out of town to be treated with a panoramic view of the twinkling lights. Arriving at the Farley Hill Community Centre we met Martin with The litter pickers and set work collecting litter from around the community centre, the shops and the playground here. Four bags later we set off again on the return journey back down the hill into town.

Tonight at Foodcycle, the surplus food from the 2 local supermarkets was not a large amount. Lots of breads and cake as well as quite a few packets of mange tout (Rodney) and some cauliflower and broccoli. As ever the kitchen team put there heads together and came up with a fantastic menu, utilising some saved stock from previous weeks, some store cupboard favourites and the days offering from the shops. For starter there was a delicious vegetable soup 🍲😋 with warmed bread 🍞. Main course was a Mac n cheese 🧀 mixed and baked with cauliflower and broccoli 🥦 with a melted chees topping. Dessert was a wacky concoction using hot cross buns, cherry 🍒 kefir yoghurt and a custard mixture, served with a slice of cake. There were 60 guests in total this evening, which i'm told is a record, 56 seated and 4 take away. The kitchen team and the hosting team all chipped in and worked together to make this a really successful evening. Well done team
