Hunt for Litter in Highgate wood

Sat 5 Sep
Report written by Fiona

4 GooddGym members and their Pup Florence headed out to Highgate wood to do a litter pick. Fortunately for Highgate wood (unfortunately for the team) the area is well kept and it was more of a litter hunt rather than a plogging session. However the team managed to find a few discarded bottles and cans and half a bag of rubbish was filled. While Florence shirked her litter hunting duties to make friends with all the other four and two legged friends that were out enjoying the fine weather.

Plog with (or without) your Dog

Sat 5 Sep 10:00 am
Not Known, ???, ???
Help keep ancient woodland tidy

My Jack Russell puppy Florence has asked if I can run a mission that she can help with, as she wants to get some good deeds of her own. As she is excellent at finding litter I have decided to set up this plogging session at Highgate woods. It would be good if any other GoodGym dogs can join us but they are not obligatory.

We will meet near the gypsy gate entrance on Muswell Hill Road. Due to current restrictions you will need to bring your own gloves and litter picker if you have one.

A spirited performance in litter picking Glebeland

Tue 4 Aug
Report written by Paul Salman

Nine goodgym members came together to clear up Glebelands nature reserve and the surrounding area. We gathered on a nearby field in the sunshine chatting about our favourite ice cream flavour. We introduced ourselves and paired up to litter pick the area. After 45 minutes the GG pairs returned with bulging sacs of rubbish. Items included a lot of spirit bottles,( so much so I could use it in the title) boxer shorts, a tea towel of the Statue of Liberty. We then finished our good deed with some yoga and ended facing the setting sun.

Thanks coming ( walk, bike run) & doing good.

Stay safe

Paul

Oh yea, oh yea! Closing time at Stephen's House!

Wed 29 Jul
Report written by Fay McKnight

After grooving to her Afrobeats workout in her living room Fay samba'd down to Stephens house to help close up the park! There were lots of enthusiastic children wanting to have a go at ringing her bell, but due to corona restrictions, the bell remained in Fay's musical hands. After helping a lady catch her excitable dog, who was didnt want to go home, the park was deemed safe to be closed. It's always a pleasure to help out at Stephens House!

Plogging Glebelands Barnet open space

Tue 4 Aug 18:45 pm
Glebelands Open Space, London, N12
improve the environment for local people

This area of green near the north Circular (see map) has a lot of potential but it is often blighted with litter so we would look to be clearing the area with litter pickers. If you have your own please bring it along with gloves and bags. I will have some to lend out as well. We will work in pairs or threes depending on numbers. If time allows we can do a work out.

Meeting point 3 words see for specific location and map https://w3w.co/hatch.pocket.cubes

Paired plogging with jogging

Fri 17 Jul
Report written by Paul Salman

So goodgym Barnet and other runners from London came together in pairs to clean up local green spaces and or streets. This was an ideal opportunity to socialise, exercise and do some good. A magical combination of feel good. ( we hope!) Please see the pictures attached to give you an idea. Thank you to Barnet Council for providing litter pickers, bags and gloves. If you have additional pictures please send them to me.

Thanks for coming running and doing some good.

Paul
