๐Ÿ™Œ 19 brilliant GoodGymmers tackled two tasks tonight in a fantastic group run double whammy ๐Ÿค“

๐Ÿ‘‹ We were delighted to welcome Zac for his first group run ๐Ÿ‘Œ

๐Ÿ…We also congratulated our fantastic marathon runners from this weekend, in their absence as their legs were taking a well-earned rest ๐Ÿ˜ด

๐Ÿ‘ Michal led a group on a longer run to Sanderson Community House, with Barbara leading a party pace group to the same task. Here's what Michal had to say...

๐Ÿฅณ The party pace group arrived before us "We've been waiting ages for youโ€ - Barbara.

๐ŸŽฉ I went to open up the gate at which point Barbara asked if I'm wearing two hats today and I said yes. I opened up the shed where the tools delivered by Kristina and Iain wereโ€ฆThe jobs were to sort out plastic compost bins. Three of them were half full and we used the remaining space to dispose of weeds dug out from the raised beds and cleared from between the paving slabs. A decision was made towards the end of the task to move one of the bins to under the hedge. Itโ€™s the type of a bin that you can lift up with whatever was inside remaining on the floor. Max used one of the bin lids to scoop half cooked compost to itโ€™s new location ๐Ÿšฎ

๐ŸŒฑ The other two tasks included clearing grass and other weeds causing trip hazard between the paving slabs. This was achieved with the use of hoes. Aiden and Jenna foxussed mainly on weeding the raised beds. Meanwhile the rest of the crew were weeding other parts of paving around the building ๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿข Andy from the Council who looks after the building (arranging bookings and repairs) came to say hello and got stuck in with edging the grass on the side of paving slabs ๐Ÿงค

๐ŸŒบ The garden is in better shape now for residents to use. the paving area to the side of the building is now trip hazard free making it good for setting up tables for Thursday coffee mornings during summer months. Raised beds are ready for some new compost before being planted by York Inspirational Kids - a support group for families of children and young people who have a disability and/or additional need who are using the building and outside space ๐ŸŒป

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธMeanwhile, the rest of us ran/walked round the corner to St Martin's Church where we were met by Tim. This absolute hero has pretty much single-handedly cleared an entire area of the grounds that had got sadly very unkempt after the church stopped being used as a church โ›ช

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Our task was to barrow many bags of rubble, mud and much, much, much pigeon-poo that Tim had cleared round the side of the church to be collected by the council tomorrow. Our team completed this task swiftly and with plenty of time to spare. After hearing a short history of the church from Tim (which went back to the 16th century!), we were on our way. Much as we were tempted to go straight to the pub, which was adjacent to our task, we jogged back to CVS and did an on-the-minute fitness session there. Having done two rounds of that, we thought we'd earned a (slightly early) trip to our local ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ‘ Having popped back to let in the Sanderson House group, everyone was reunited at said pub for the monthly social ๐Ÿป

๐Ÿคฉ Thank you everyone for all your hard work tonight, hopefully see you again soon ๐Ÿ˜
