Twice a year, The Rivers Trust run a Big River Watch, and the next one will take place between 24th and 30th April 2026.

GoodGym are teaming up with them to help build an important picture of the health of our local rivers. Citizen science in action!

Our rivers are far from healthy. They're polluted with sewage, plastic, chemicals and nutrients, and just 15% of river stretches in England are in good overall health.

To restore them, The Rivers Trust needs more information about how they're doing. You can help them to identify and locate the problems, and to influence policymakers and hold polluters to account.

Taking part is simple and can be done during your runs, walks, or group missions:

✅ Download the free Big River Watch app (available in English and Welsh): https://theriverstrust.org/take-action/the-big-river-watch

✅ Spend 15 minutes at a local river near you.

✅ Complete a quick survey about what you see—pollution, wildlife, and more.

NB this can be done any time from 24 - 30 April!
