In the past 12 months the outdoor spaces in our town have possibly mattered to us more than ever before.
Litter blights our streets, parks and everywhere else in our town. Hence GoodGym can help make a difference.
To maintain social distancing and to follow the Rule of six we will meet in two areas of the town. One group by the river near Middleborough and the other on Abbey Fields
Nearer the time I will confirm the details.
Litter pickers and sacks will be provided, but please bring your own gloves.
Any questions please let me know.
We had two separate groups planting bulbs in Colchester last night!
One group had a fantastic bulb planting sesh near the weir for Colchester in Bloom, accompanied by swans taking back the park for the evening.
The other group planted in some areas in the town centre. It was a chilly evening but lovely to see people after so long.
We look forward to seeing the fruits of our labour next Summer when the tulips bloom!
After a warm up, the runners set off on a friendly 5k round the block on Bank Holiday Monday, with only a light smattering of snow to greet them near the finish. I was glad of some extra layers in the chilly air, brrr! Happy Easter everyone!
Following on from being back together on 31st March Colchester In Bloom are looking forward to welcoming us once more. I will confirm details of where to meet nearer the time as I am not sure what Pam would like us to do.
Once again the plan is to meet in 2 groups of 6.
Look forward to seeing you again.
Any queries please let me know.
Volunteering at Junior Parkrun. If you can remember that far back there are various roles and this time ensuring all the new COVID precautions are adhered to is of utmost importance. We will lead by example with masks and social distancing as well as doing loads of cheering!
2 groups of 6 if needed!!!
GoodGym (not)parkrun will be hosted by a different GoodGym area each week during lockdown and is aiming to get everyone involved throughout 2021, get fit and active in your local community and carry forward the parkrun spirit, whilst following Covid rules of course.
GG Haringey is picking up the baton for (not) parkrun on Saturday 27th March! Everyone is very welcome to join!
And remember to follow all Covid rules and guidelines on your run, be safe, be socially-distanced and keep moving!
You can complete your 5K any time on Saturday and submit your time, by midnight on Saturday, using the form
A big shout out to Melanie Young @ GoodGym Bristol (aka tech savvy whizz kid) for creating the results form and who will put the results together for our (not)parkrun events.
To let her know your email address and other useful information, there's a one-off registration form to complete. You can find this here.
If you'd like a photo to be included in the run report, please take a selfie and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org - THE OWNER OF THE BEST SELFIE (AS CHOSEN BY GGBristol's MELANIE) WILL GET THE COVETED GGHARINGEY'S 'MYSTERY ENVELOPE' - HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT WONDERS IT WILL CONTAIN! :) (terms and conditions appky, or summat)
Collected a big bag of rubbish on a 90 minute walk around Highwoods country park for the Great British Spring (Autumn!) Clean. Recycled what we could into separate bins next to the vistor centre, then grabbed yet more litter on the walk home. Beautiful morning for spending time in the park - lovely to hear the birds singing in the trees.
