20 awesome runners ran 5km to help out at Story Garden for the GoodGym x Crussh session

A cold dark evening didn't seem to put anyone off from running and doing some good for the local community! I arrived at Crussh to see a shop FULL of fit people and fit food! Lots of yummy energy balls and smoothies to tuck into and fuel us for our run... NICE!

6pm struck and Ivo introduced GoodGym and explained a bit about how it all started and what we're up to now.. essentially running around, doing good deeds wherever and whenever we can!

Everyone was pumped (I think) and ready to brace the cold! The next twenty minutes would involve lots of weaving in and out of commuters looking down at their phones, good agility and fast feet required!

We arrived at The Story Garden and were greeted by the lovely Martina who told us a bit more about the charity Global Generation and the fabulous work they do and explained the two main tasks for the evening, one of which was shifting a huge load of scaffold boards and the other was clearing a giant mound of soil.

The people on the soil grabbed their shovels and wheelbarrows and got cracking while the scaffolders whipped on some gloves and started lifting and shifting!

The power of the group!

This is often talked about in running and how the group can help motivate and push you to achieve your best but it's also true on GoodGym tasks! We got LOADS done!! After 20 minutes, the last of the boards were being stacked and it was all hands on deck to shift as much soil as we could!

Time was nearly up, but we saved just enough of it to take a quick photo before heading off.

Strides!

Since the running we had done so far had been fairly chilled, it was time to warm up and get the heart pumping and blood flowing!! 3 lots of 20 seconds fast with a slow jog recovery with some high fives and hip bumps mixed in for good measure and then time to jog back to base.

We took a slightly different route back, the roads were far quieter at this time which made for a much more pleasant run! We arrived back at Crussh for a quick little stretch and then enjoyed the WONDERFUL spread of food and drinks put on by Crussh so big thanks to them.

Nice work everyone! Thanks for getting so much done over at the task and for spreading the word on your social channels! I hope you enjoyed your first GoodGym experience! Remember there are LOADS of ways to get involved doing tasks like this all over London every week so be sure to check it out and hopefully see you at another run soon!
