Woking Junior Park Run
Congratulations to Kirsty on completing her 100th GoodGym task! ๐
Despite facing running setbacks over the last 12 months, her commitment and dedication have brought her back to both running and volunteering. Your official milestone T-shirt with wings is flying its way to you, Kirstyโjust try not to actually airborne-launch during your next sprint! ๐ฆ โค๏ธ
Kirsty met Wayne at the leisure centre for a gentle 4k run, finishing at the bandstand before volunteering duties began.๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Volunteer Attendance & Catch-Ups It was an excellent turnout of GoodGym members this morning, providing a great opportunity to catch up:
Rich: Regular volunteer present at the event.
Adam: Arrived shortly after the pre-run
Olalekan: Returned to volunteer after some time away.
Alys: Emerged from the vortex of work and married life. Verdict: Still alive, still awesome.
Anne: Arrived a few minutes later, wearing designer sunglasses.
The junior parkrun saw fantastic participation and strong performances across the board:
Total Runners: 179 participants took part this morning.
Fastest Time: An impressive 07:47.
*Personal Bests: *42 runners achieved a new PB.
Thank you to all the volunteers and runners who made this milestone morning a success ๐

Today Goodgym Woking helped again with the painting project at Knaphill Lower School. Kirsty, her ๐ Rocket ๐ and Katie walked to the task. Kirsty has been running a lot recently to get ready for a 10km race later this month. She is also nearly at 100 Goodgym tasks ๐
Kirsty had the task of painting the pebbledash magnolia and Katie painted the area by the steps white. Both tasks needed patience and concentration. The Hive building is coming along well, it's looking so much brighter and more cheerful for the children and staff who use it. There may be future sessions set up to continue this work and finish the painting.

๐ฅช The Great Sandwich Heist: Zoe's First Run & Andyโs Three-Course Carb-Fest
A massive GoodGym welcome to Zoe, who survived her very first group run! Itโs the first of many missions, provided she wasn't completely scared off by our post-run catering habits.
The Journey (And the Wedding Gossip)
The squadโNadia, Andy Julie, Wayne, Kirsty and Zoeโconvened at the Winston Churchill School gates. Kirsty clocked a cheeky 2k from home just to show off, while Anne skipped the running part and met us at the site as she currentlt can not run ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
After Run Leader Nadia gave Zoe the breakdown of the route, we set off on a 2.5k tour of Knaphillโs finest hills. The calves were burning, but the distractions were elite: we got to hear all about Nadia and Andyโs wedding and honeymoon, complete with a mid-run slideshow of the wedding pictures.
The Battle of the Bedding
We arrived at the Knaphill Community Fridge perfectly timed with a massive food delivery. Jules appeared with a wheelbarrow full of tools, and we were assigned our mission: total annihilation of the weeds and dead flowers around the church and food bank tent.
Wayne went rogue at one end with the strimmer. ๐คฃ
The rest of the crew armed themselves with rakes and scissors.
Andy inherited a temperamental leaf blower that was clinging to 1% battery life, yet somehow managed to blow the paths clean through sheer willpower.
Two giant green bins were packed to the brim in record time.
The Legend of the Three-Course Sandwich
Then came the grand finale. To thank us, Jules offered us crates of surplus supermarket sandwiches. While most people took a polite token snack, Andy saw an absolute buffet. ๐ฅช
Andy successfully curated a full three-course meal out of targeted carbohydrate acquisition:
The Starter: A breakfast sandwich. ๐ฅช
The Main: A lunch sandwich. ๐ฅช
The Dessert: A steak dinner sandwich (because nothing says dessert like beef).
He was, unsurprisingly, the happiest lad in Surrey.๐
Jules kindly provided bags so we didn't drop the haul, and the group had the distinct pleasure of jogging back to the school loaded down with a bakeryโs worth of bread. Massive props to Zoe for fitting right in, and hats off to Andy appetite! ๐

Today Goodgym Woking helped again with the painting project at Knaphill Lower School. Kirsty, her ๐ Rocket ๐ and Katie ran 5km to the task. Anne walked an impressive 13km along the canal. Wayne managed to get a workout in and ran over 6km to join the task. Great effort from all Goodgymers ๐
The Hive building is already looking much brighter than it was. Wayne was up high, painting the wall magnolia which really freshened it up. Anne and Kirsty did a wonderful job painting the tree and flowers. Katie started the outlines on the tufts of grass and founded that it needed a lot of concentration! There is still more to do and there is another opportunity to help next weekend.

Nadia led the 3k run to Knaphill School via the canal with some quick exercises to start, I myself (Luan) followed along, thankfully Nadia had the route planned. It was a really sunny day today but with a nice breeze so the run was pleasant! Once we reached the school we continued from the work GoodGym had done the day before, I ventured up the ladder to paint some honey at the top of the building and Stephanie joined to help paint some of the flowers and bees. We managed to get quite a lot of painting done, but as we were running back another 3k stayed for about one hour. Stephanie stayed behind to help continue painting! Personally, I was quite happy with the run and have some weight to lose so was grateful for the training. What a great way to start the day on a Sunday, get the endorphins pumping!

GoodGym Woking were delighted to welcome Harvey Gallagher, a GoodGymer from Ealing, who joined us ( Kirsty and Karen) to help at the Park run this morning.
The sun was shining, the autumn season was off to a flying start and there was a fantastic turnout of children and parents. And judging by some of the times, everyone had clearly decided it was a morning for putting their trainers into top gear! โก๏ธ
A huge well done to all the children for getting out there and giving it their all, to the parents for cheering them on, and to all the brilliant volunteers who made it happen.
What a great way to start the autumn season! ๐๐
