Knaphill Community Fridge
This evening 5 Goodgym members met at Knaphill Community Fridge to give the shed a good dust down and a lick of paint 😀
Anne ran 6k along the canal to get to the fridge while Katie also ran 6k but from the opposite direction both ladies getting their runs in before the Martian Race in a few weekends time 👽 Wayne, Kirsty & Julie made there own way there. They were greeted my Jules who had two tasks that needed to be done. Wayne, Katie & Anne started to dust down the outside of the fridge before they applied a stain varnish onto the shed while Kirsty & Julie worked on a bedding in the pre-school removing weeds and planting new plants and flowers 🌼. It was a beautiful evening and plenty of conversations while the tasks were being carried out.
In no time both tasks had been completed and they looked great 😀
Jules was very pleased with the results

St Johns Church ⛪️
This evening Wayne & Julie met at St Johns church in West Byfleet to help with cutting back some overgrown trees in preparation for the summer fate 😀 Luckily it was not raining while we carried out the task. We started off with the big Oak tree and moved along the church grounds to each tree to cut back the low dead branches In no time we had finished and the church care taker was very grateful.

Woking Report written by Alys Penfold (she/her)
Just the two of us! Tonight, Julie & I (Alys) headed over to St Mark’s Church in Kingsfield to help out at their newly established community garden.
The hawthorn trees planted to create some lovely hedges were feeling a bit suffocated by grass and other small plants sharing their soil.
We spent an hour and a half with garden forks and spades getting as rid as many of the weeds as possible to leave behind a neat soil strip giving the saplings lots of much needed space.
I obtained some injuries - an ant bite to the calf and a speck of soil in the eye but this didn’t slow us down!
We managed to slip in some strength training too by taking turns carrying the waste over to the compost heap.
They are looking for regular volunteers to help maintain the garden - so if you have an hour to spare on a Wednesday morning, make sure to get in touch with Rosemary at St Mark’s.

Our gardening team isn't yet big enough to be able to do all this ourselves, but this will give the plants the best chance of surviving!

All Aboard Club 🚂
This morning Wayne, Alys, & Julie met Richard from All Aboard Club at Brookwood Halls to help build the big train track for the kids to enjoy 😊.
We were joined by a few other volunteers from local organisations. We Helped unload the car and between us took ll the crates into the hall and strategically placed them around.
Alys & Julie started to place the chairs around the hall for the parents then it was time to build. We all started in different area's and started to lay the tracks. within 30 mins the track was looking great. The track had plenty of loops and turns it must of been one of the most technical and interesting tracks we had done, it looked great.
This coming Wednesday we will be doing a leaflet drop around the Goldsworth Park Area for Sam Beare Hospice 😊

Tonight, five human GoodGymers and one canine GoodGymer took on not one, not two, but three tasks!
We were back at Knaphill Community Fridge, which seems to always bless us with a beautiful evening for our task. ☀️
Wayne and Alys took on the task of removing a rotting trellis and replacing it with a new one. Well actually…Wayne did all the drilling, and Alys just held the screws! Wayne also got his gloves on to clear out toys and balls that children from the nursery had poked through the gaps. No doubt it won’t take long for more to gather there…
Meanwhile, Julie, Nadia and Agathe gave the community fridge a good ‘ol Spring clean, cleaning it from ceiling to floor (and window to wall).
A few of us also jumped in to replace one of the sides of the gazebo that has got a bit tattered over time. Quinn made sure to supervise this step!
We were kindly rewarded with a treat from Gail’s before heading home. 😀
It was great to have Agathe back after her trip to France. We missed Katie this week, who took a fleeting trip to Italy, Anne who is in France 🇫🇷 and we’ll be missing Nadia for the next few weeks whilst she’s in Japan 🇯🇵- have an amazing time! 🎌
On Sunday, there is not one, not two, but three tasks as well - Junior parkrun, Brookwood trains and wildflower sowing on Millmoor Common. Join us for one?
