This evening was our first group run for a while and it lovely running while still light โ๏ธ.
Wayne , Anne, & Alys, along with Quinn met at the leisure centre and ran up the hill to the local foodbank at the lighthouse.
Rebecca, & Julie met us at the foodbank as they were coming straight from work. It was nice to see Allison again who runs the foodbank as it was our first visit back in a while.
We quickly distributed our roles for the evening. Wayne & Julie were on sweeping and hoovering duties while Anne & Rebecca followed behind with their mops. Alys with her cloths was on wipe down ๐ with Quinn supervising us all ๐ถ.
Rebecca who is currently training for the London Marathon has her final longish run this weekend before the big day ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ we all wish her well and will be following her on the day.
Anne continues with her training for the San Fransisco marathon, Anne has really been getting the miles in ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ keep going Anne.
In no time we had given the foodbank a deep clean the smelled and looked good. ๐
We said our goodbyes and headed back to the Leisure Centre.
Keep an eye out for more tasks which will be listed soon.

This evening James led an interval training sessions at the park.
Myself, Kirsty, Lauren, Mark, Julie, Rebecca and Anne all attended.
Rebecca was delayed slightly at work but still completed the full session ๐ช๐ป.
Adam was busy taking part in the vertical rush charity run up tower 42. Adam completed the run in a fantastic time of 08:41๐๐ฝ
In total this evening we did 30 times 45 second runs with 15 second rest after two warm up laps around the park ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐จ
This was Laurens first run for a while and she did fantastically well, as did the whole group.
We were very pleased to welcome Mark, who is a member of the public and he joined in as he wants to improve his fitness. We are hopeful we can encourage him to join as a member and see him again.
Next week we are back at Foodwise to give the place a 2nd coat of paint, and we will be meeting at the leisure centre and running together as a group.
Hope to see you all there. Regards Wayne

This evening we did a trial run of a session I am looking to do regularly for runners in the community, but this one was only promoted to GoodGym members.
We had a nice group, doing intervals in the park, which consisted of running for 45 seconds and then resting for 10 seconds before heading off again.
Everyone worked really hard and was enthusiastic about the session so we will definitely put this on again.

First of all, may we wish you the very best for the New Year? And, of course, loads of running achievements while doing good for the community.
Alys, Becky, Julie and Anne met at the sports centre. Priya arrived a bit later but, unfortunately, we had left! Sorry Priya, we hope this did not put you off and that you will join us next week.
Julie was back; she last came during the summer when she completed a couple of missions. It was good to see her again. Holly had dropped the leaflets at Alysโs for us to distribute.
The charity Shooting Star Childrenโs Hospices offer to collect real trees in exchange for a donation. So we ran 7 kms up and down some of Woking streets to spread the good news.
Alys and Becky took away the few leaflets left and will distribute in their neighbourhood. Thank you to both.
Will you join us this coming Sunday to help at Woking junior parkrun?
Or next Wednesday when we will pick up litter from Brookwood Farm playground? Both missions are advertised on the Woking GoodGym website.
In the meantime, happy running to everyone.

Last night we headed to the Foodbank to help pack up the bags for Chrismtas.
We had a great turn out with members and welcomed Victoria to her first GoodGym Group run experience. Well done to Rachel, James, Adam and Anne ran just over 4km to Knaphill Food bank in the Landsbury estate. The obviously had the run back.
It started off an eventful night with Anne and Lauren getting locked in the porridge cupboard and Sharon, Rosie and Rebecca being lost in the car park.
Once we were all ready we had 55 bags to load, we started by getting all the goods in crates. We were all assigned a good to pack and got in a line, with Kirsty starting the Conveyor belt it made it down the line to be taken into reception ready to be given out to those in need.
Last night was out last session of 2023 and my last offical Group run as area activator. I will be helping out in the background until a new activator can take over but due to personal reasons I will not be able to continue.
Remember to join in for the first session in January - more sessions will be appearing soon for you to sign up to.
Have a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
