This evening 7 GG Members Ran to the All Saints Church To Carry Out Various Tasks
*A big welcome to Luan who joined us on her first task. *
This evening Wayne, Anne, Adam, Katie, Alys & Quinn 🐶 along with Luan as well as regular park run volunteer Rich ran along the canal to the All Saints Church. Julie who was running late messaged to say she was going to meet us at the church.
It was a lovely run/walk along the canal and through the woods. We met Adrian who had everything ready for us.as well as refreshments He also had a very long list of tasks.
Alys & Quinn were given the task of removing some brambles from the front of the church. Adam was in charge of moving some chairs. Wayne was led outside and was given the task of digging around a tree stump and get it prepped for removal 🌴 Luan, Anne, Katie, & Julie as well as Rich had to wash down the walls of the hall and then carry out some painting.
Quinn was also getting stuck in digging away with Alys.
In no time an hour had gone by and we had done so much, it makes such a difference when we have a great turn out. After saying our goodbyes we all headed back to WWF through the common.
We will hopefully be back at the church next week to finish off. 😊

Spreading Goodgym Cheer
7 GoodGymers and a dog ran over 35k to deliver GoodGym leaflets around Woking. Road closures and traffic delays meant a later start than expected but the great turnout made speedy work of delivering leaflets about GoodGym to the houses surrounding Woking Park. We even accosted people running past to take a leaflet on the basis that if they are running anyway they may as well be running to do good and join our community. Plus who can resist taking a leaflet from Anne? Hopefully our efforts will see more people who want to get fit while doing good join our wonderful Woking GoodGym community. 😀
Well done Katie as ever to for running 5k to the task and to Adam for slowly building back up his running and visiting the gym afterwards. Quinn helped Alys along and Nadia shared her fitness wisdom including "running is like brushing your teeth, if you only do it once every 6 months your teeth will fall out". Kirsty and Rebecca are neck and neck in their competition to reach their 50th good deed. We all enjoyed a sociable run in the humid August weather. Good work team! 🏃♀️

Alys (and Quinn), Clare, Claire, Julie, Nadia and Anne were welcomed by Claud at the RSPCA in Chobham before tackling the invasion of brambles and nettles in the dogs's compounds.
The main gate being locked, Claud showed us the way to two other dogs's compounds where our help was needed. Nadia had warned us she was delayed, so Anne offered to go back to the car park and show her the new route. Unfortunately for Nadia, Anne, being jet-lagged -good excuse to diminish her complete lack of orienteering-, could not remember the way to the new compounds where the rest of the team was already clearing the borders of unwanted plants. Thank goodness, Alys came to the rescue, so the day was saved!
We all got stung by nettles, pricked by thistles and scratched by brambles, but managed to make quite a difference to both areas and filled up 3 big bags. Well done to all!
On Sunday, a group of us will help at junior parkrun, will you join in? Or you could run with us next Wednesday when we will be "leafletting" to advertise the good work done by GoodGym!
In the meantime, enjoy your runs!
