Power up!!

Thursday 25th July

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight, Jonny and Gabriel helped out at The Friends of the Earth.

The task was to water the plants, measure some items, take pictures of them and then email them to task owner Karen.

Jonny did the plant watering around the building using 6 full watering cans and Gabriel did a great job of measuring up and taking photos.

We even had time to squeeze in another quick job. Yep we took aload of batteries off charge and boxed them up before replacing them with some dead batteries to power them up!

Once done, Jonny ran home and Gabriel walked back to the JQ :)

Woaaah we're half way there 🎵

Monday 22nd July

Written by Miriam

We were at Dads Lane this evening for a big brick move. Steve got on a great playlist which included Livin On A Prayer...the lyrics We're Half Way There felt apt as it felt like we were half way there for ageees. Eventually however we managed to move three big piles of bricks! Rachel was a machine moving bricks and also getting involved organising them with Liam. Sofeen was a welcome late edition getting stuck in too with loads of moving.

Kate from Ampersand projects needed the space for her forest school activity over summer and despite running a full day of sessions tomorrow also got stuck in with the brick move.

A very successful start to the week! Thanks everyone!

Sutton Solo!

Wednesday 17th July

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight was the first GoodGym group run/walk in Sutton Coldfield.

Sadly it was just Area Activator Jonny in attendance, but no matter he still delivered around 200 leaflets about GoodGym in the local area.

The next GoodGym Sutton Coldfield is in the 2nd week in August when we'll be doing more leafletting, this time for Guide Dogs UK :)

Soggy Litter Day!

Thursday 11th July

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight, James, Jonny and Eve headed to the canal to pick some litter.

Not long after setting off down to the canal the heavens opened to give us a bit of a soaking. After sheltering under a tree for 5 minutes or so we carried on picking the now rather soggy litter.

Once done we walked up to Aston Lock to drop the bags off before heading back to 1000 Trades to drop the litter picks off then finishing our run off by running down to New Street station.

Is it coming home?!

Tuesday 25th June

Written by Jonny Carter

Tonight GG Brum had the Euros get together, but first we had some litter picking to do.

Yep, we headed to the canal towpath for the first time in months! Therefore it goes without saying there was quite a bit of litter!

Steve, James and Jonny were armed with the litter pickers and Laura and Morwenna were ready with the bags. Once they were full we headed for a run back along the canal with all of us noticing what a difference we had made in a short space of time :)

Once back at 1000 Trades we headed upstairs to watch the football. The first half was pretty turgid stuff to say the least! It did improve a little in the 2nd half, but hardly great!

Oh well, the draw seems to have opened up for England with Spain, Germany, France and Portugal being on the other side to England, but they'll definitely have to improve if they want to get to the final!

Is it coming home?? I'll let you decide..........
