We’d weed!

Brent Report written by Liz

We met outside Papagayo for a short warm-up before we ran to Cricklewood. We were greeted by Marie. Her instructions were for some people to 'weed', for others to clean up after they had 'weed' and for others to spray the roots once the weeding had been completed.

We were given tools and quickly set to work. Before long, it was time for our weekly photo shoot!

There was lots of time remaining, so Liz lead a HITT fitness session.
- Knee to elbow jumps - Squat jumps - Star jumps - Squat punches - Skatters Two rounds, then it was time to run back to Papagayo.

Think I better leaflet now

Brent Report written by Tabitha Skinner

Temperatures dropped on Monday night , and so did Brent goodgym's numbers. Five of us met at Pappagayo and knew we had a big task at hand, so wasted no time in warming up and sprinting to meet our task owners Shuwanna and Lucie in Queens park. We were so speedy we arrived ten minutes early! The task was to help deliver Queens Park Community Council local leaflets, full of essential information for local residents, as well as details of their Christmas Fair. We split into teams, with Liz and Monica sprinting off in one direction, and Tabitha, Pete and CJ taking the other. Off we went dropping leaflet after leaflet into the letterboxes. The street had houses on ground floor, upper ground and lower ground so we definitely got our cardio in for the day...up, down, down, up...up, down.

After the first few boxes of leaflets were successfully delivered we met back at the start point and were rewarded with toffees, mints and chocolate coins :) They were really grateful for the help

After regrouping ready to go, Shuwanna and Lucie still had piles of boxes left to deliver...so never wanting to turn down extra work we took another huge stack of leaflets and finished another street on the way home.

Great teamwork everybody! Hopefully see you all next week !

We Hill Run Four Cakes

Brent Report written by Tabitha Skinner

It was a big night for Brent with two long lost visitors, and one goodbye!

Area Activator Pritesh was back for the first time in a long time, along with Claire who we were all happy to see visit us.
It was great to see such a big group (double figures!) but sad that it would be James's last regular session in Brent.

After a great long intro from Pritesh, James led the warm up, including the (im)memorable spotty dogs.

Once we were warm we ran the short distance to Brent Mencap who had lots of cleaning materials ready and waiting for us to tackle their outdoor area. Pete got to work with the broom, sweeping the paths. Rebecca did a little weeding before joining Tabitha, James, Monica and Helen cleaning the windows outside....with some helpful pointers from a passerby

" You missed a bit!"

Pritesh, Claire, Lee and Sabina cleaned the general outdoor area and posed for photos.

In no time at all it was spick and span and we stopped to admire our work and take a beautiful team photo.

Our work was done, but our time wasn't up and Claire led us to the middle of a nearby hill and gave us some pointers on mastering a hill run. We split into teams and pumped our arms up the hill, not once, not twice, but FOUR times, cheering on the other team when they ran up.

Not quite ready to finish up, we took a winding route back to Papagayo and gently cooled down and stretched. With the first task done, it was time for the second task of the night......to give James the send off he deserved. James has been part of Goodgym Brent for over two years now and we will miss him, but wish him well in his new adventures. For those who turned up just for the promise of cake, they were not disappointed as we had not one, not two, but FOUR cakes to celebrate!

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Lock, stock and two smoking space hoppers!

Brent Report written by Liz

We met outside Papagayo cafe on a rainy Monday evening. A big welcome to Monica, who joined a GG run for the first time. Liz gave a short intro, followed by a quick warm-up and then we were ready to run!

We quickly reached Mora primary school. Our first challenge was the lock! Everyone took their turn to try to unlock the door, until Tabitha succeeded!! Our second task was stock! We took all of the equipment out of the cupboard, sorted it and then put it back very tidily. Our third 'task' was to pose for photographs with the space hoppers. Monica and Liz were very quick to volunteer for that task!

Once the tasks were completed, we started the run back to the cafe for some cool down stretches.

Let's hope we get 'Mora' tasks at the school!
