Lee Worth has completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Tue 7 Dec 2021

Lee has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

We’d weed!

Mon 6 Dec
Report written by Liz James

We met outside Papagayo for a short warm-up before we ran to Cricklewood. We were greeted by Marie. Her instructions were for some people to 'weed', for others to clean up after they had 'weed' and others to spray the roots once the weeding had been completed.

We were given and quickly set to work. Before long, it was time for our weekly photo shoot!

There was lots of time remaining, so Liz lead a HITT fitness session.
- Knee to elbow jumps - Squat jumps - Star jumps - Squat punches - Skatters Two rounds, then it was time to run back to Papagayo.

From Brrrrrent to Christmaswood!

Mon 29 Nov
Report written by Liz James

Seven dedicated Goodgymers left their warm, cosy homes to complete a good deed for their local community on a very chilly evening.

Tabitha, Helen, Lee, Pete and Liz met outside Papagayo in Brrrrent. Liz gave a short intro speech, with the main news being that THE event of the year is happing this Wednesday..... the infamous Brent Christmas party!!! Whoop whoop!!!! This was promptly followed by a short, energetic warm-up.

The group then set off for Christmaswood. We received a warm welcome from Marie and found CJ and Becca to already be hard at work! The task was to clean the bridge. We sprayed the walls with bleach and scrubbed them until they were spotless.

When the task was completed, we paused for a photo shoot with the Christmaswood Christmas cow and sparkling lights. Of course, a final photo was taken of the clean walls, before we began our run back to Brrrent.

After some stretches, we were delighted to find that Papagayo was serving mulled wine. It was very cinnamony! I think we'll need to ci-mony more of those!

Great work team - see you Wednesday!!

We're heading over to Cricklewood to clean the amazing under bridge sign! Marie from NW2 group will provide us with hot water and all the tools and we'll work hard to get the sign shining again. It's about 2km each way so join us and help to make the community proud of their railway sign

We'll still be meeting at Papagayo while Queensbury is closed. You can still leave bags but the run leaders or Taskforce will help with this to prevent any unnecessary congregation inside. Do remember it is colder and darker so do be prepared!

Sales and Ales

Mon 15 Nov
Report written by Rebecca Marston

This week did a community mission at TRIAD charity clothes shop in Kilburn, to help clear out and tidy up their store ready to re stock.

We started by clearing the racks, and learnt that some Pisces folded clothes better than others. But it didn't matter when hauling them into the giant crates for collection the next day.

Then we did some more clear up: sorting clothes hangers in boxes, clearing the floor, and knocking down the SALE signs.

Rearranging the SALE signs pointed us to our next activity, which Pete showed up just in time for. The perks of an early task is an early finish and more time for the pub, where we celebrated the day with a couple of ALES (and fruity ciders).

Time to clean

Mon 8 Nov
Report written by Liz James

This evening we met at Papagayo cafe. Liz gave a short intro speech, including news that Lee has organised a Christmas social for us on Wednesday 1st December!

Tabitha and Samina began their walk to the task, while the rest of the team participated in an extra long warm-up.

We arrived at the task at about the same time. Helen and CJ set to work cleaning the toilet floor. Meanwhile, the rest of the team set to work cleaning work tops, cupboards and fridges.

Danny, Tabitha and Samina stayed a little longer at the task, cleaning the floor. The rest of the team headed to St Peter's Avenue for some hill sprints.

The team arrived back at Papagayo Cafe for drinks, chips and cake.

Well done team!

Park de Triomphe

Mon 1 Nov
Report written by Pete

Sabina, Tabitha, Liz, Lee and Pete met at Papagayo restaurant at 6.45pm , did some stretches and then ran to spooky Queens Park with Liz leading and Tabitha back-marking, where they were met by Karen and Becky.

They then split into two groups in order to complete two time trial runs around the outside of the park. Lee, Becky, Pete and Sabina took off first, while others in the second group started them off and timed them, waiting at that spot for them to return.

All obstacles were avoided including dog-walkers, broken pavements, large twigs, other joggers, the dark, cyclists, low hung trees, spider's webs, small foraging animals, walkers staring at phones and assorted lamposts ;-)

A very relaxed run ended with them tagging and timing the next group of Liz, Tabitha and Karen who came back round with very creditable times including a super-fast one by Liz.

Time for the second lap; Pete, Becky and Lee headed off, another fun run, this time becoming more competitive towards the end as Pete and Lee stretched their legs Lee storming in with a time of approx 7 minutes and 8 seconds.

Tabitha, Liz and Karen set off again as the others recovered, again completing the lap of approximately a mile in very good times.

The pub and cake beckoned, Karen split for the comfort of home, Sabina led the rest via a new route up chamberlayne road past a nasty car accident back by Milverton Road to Papagayo. Sabina split for home and the rest enjoyed well earned treats (cake), juices, alcohol and scrummy food.

The tradition of the goodgym Brent time trial was preserved until the next time (trial).
