Help clear the school commute path near Holy Family Catholic Primary School

Tue 11 Jan

This week we are meeting to run up to Holy Family Catholic Primary School to help clear the path that the children use to commute to the school.

It's currently flooded with litter and it's really having an impact on the local community and environment - come and make a difference this week!

We'll meet at 6:45pm outside Bodyline Fitness Gym on Spring Bridge Mews to run up to the start of the path that's the problem. Here we'll litter pick the local area which will make a huge difference!

ALL PACES AND ABILITIES WELCOME ON THE RUN - IF YOU ONLY WANT TO RUN/WALK THAT'S GREAT!

Hey! Running is totally not my thing!

That's cool too, if you want to meet at 7:10pm outside Holy Family Catholic Primary School you can make your own way by cycling or walking instead, that's absolutely great!

PLEASE COMMENT BELOW IF YOU'RE MAKING YOUR OWN WAY TO THE TASK

Please note there are NO changing or bag drop facilities at the moment so please come ready to take part and only bring what you are happy to carry for the run/task.

Good things come in trees!

Tue 4 Jan
Report written by Liv Parker-Scott

Last night we kicked off January 2022 in tree-mendous style! - 10 GoodGymers came out to help ensure trees were taken to the designated recycling points to be turned into lovely woodchip in our local parks!

Fir god's sake, where are all the trees?!

We arrived at the park to find a large stash of trees at the recycling point and we intended to scout around the surrounding streets to add to it! However we may have been a little early this year as normally we find a huge number of abandoned trees and this year we had to work a little harder to reel them in!

We split into 3 groups with some more successful than others, however by the end we dragged about 12 over in total included some pretty beefy ones! Cam definitely found the largest of the night which required three people to carry it! But the most collected by one group was the dream team of Annabel, Claire and Shan who arrived back with 6 between them!

We finished up with a sally squats leg blast before all jogging off towards home.

What a lovely way to start the year!

Next Tuesday we'll be back out on the streets doing something else fun and active and we've got loads more stuff coming up this January too - click here to see all the sessions in Ealing.

Start off the New Year with GoodGym Ealing - Christmas tree hunting!

Tue 4 Jan 18:45 pm
Bodyline Studio, 5-6 Spring Bridge Mews, Ealing, W5 2AB
Join us to do good and get fit for the first time in 2022!

Welcome to GoodGym Ealing!

We're a friendly group who combines exercise with volunteering. We meet every week to combine getting fit with by walking, running and cycling with a physical task to help the charities and community organisations in our borough.

The Task:

Join us to do good and get fit for the first time in 2022!

This week we'll be doing the classic Christmas tree sweep!

Basically we'll mooch around scooping up discarded trees, dropping them at designated collection points for recycling. It's a great work out and great fun!

PLEASE BRING GLOVES WITH YOU!

The Run:

Tonight we'll meet at 6.45pm for a run starting from outside Bodyline Fitness Gym on Spring Bridge Mews. Please come ready to run, there's no bag drop or toilets.

GoodGym is for everyone and we welcome runners of all abilities. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is! If you have any questions or you're worried about the task or run then just contact me. The total distance there and back will be around 5km.

What if you don't want to run?!

If running isn't your bag then that's cool too - you can meet us at Cleveland Park where we'll be doing the task (use this pinpoint) at 7:20pm instead. You could walk or cycle there to get your exercise in your way! Post below to let me know if you're planning on meeting for the run or meeting at the park.

See you there!

Can you help Osterley parkrun fill their volunteer rota this week?

Sat 13 Nov 08:30 am
Osterley Park, Jersey Road, Isleworth, London, TW7 4RB
Help parkrun and our local running community!

On Saturday 13th November we're hoping to help fill the volunteer roster at Osterley parkrun!

There's a new parkrun starting in West London very soon (top secret for now!) and in preparation the new core team are taking over Osterley parkrun to practice all the roles. They are running a little short of volunteers and would love our help to fill the roster.

How to sign up:

  • Step 1: - Check the roster here to see what roles are left
  • Step 2: - Once you've checked which role you'd like to do email osterley@parkrun.com with your parkrun number on your personal barcode and your name
  • Step 3: - Head to parkrun on Saturday morning and have an awesome time!

IMPORTANT:

If you're new to parkrun you'll need to register beforehand (for both running and volunteering), click here to get yourself signed up. It's free, fun and I guarantee you'll love it!

So in a nutshell, come down, get involved with parkrun and help this wonderful community of runners!

  • Most volunteer voles for parkrun will need to be at Osterley for 8:30am

  • They meet by the house - You can see the Osterley parkrun course page here - look for the group of high vis heroes!

  • If you just want to run instead that's cool too, it starts at 9am but come for 8:45am to be safe!

  • Don't forget your barcode if you're running - no barcode, no time!

  • You need to print a physical copy of your barcode, they don't scan from phones (you don't need one if you're only volunteering)

  • There's an excellent cafe in the park after - treat yourself afterwards with a lovely coffee and cake

Hope to see lots of you there!
