While most people were off to the coast or spending quality time with friends and family, on this glorious bank holiday, 13 runners, including first timers Kim O'Connor, Bianca Strohmann and Nate Gibson were out doing good at Crofton Park Community Garden. While most GoodGymers normally do a couple group runs then progress to missions and coach runs, Nate flipped the script and did the total opposite on Saturday he completed his first mission and came along today for his first group run.

Following our briefing, introductions and warm up we headed off on our outward run to Crofton Park Community Garden, where the group ran and chatted along the way to our task.

Shout out to our regulars Helen and Kim sporting their well deserved black T-Shirts for joining the 50s club.

We arrived at our task all ready and rearing to go where we met Tony who had began working on the area he wanted our assistance with. Happy to see the turn out he gave us instructions on what he wanted us to do. With tools in hands we followed Tony into the orchard to our work area for the next 45 mins. The area was taken over by horseradish which we weeded and turned over the soil. Who knew weeding included deep excavation? (Helen) Don't be deceived those horseradishes do set deep roots.

Radish Facts. Whether it's fighting the flu and respiratory disorders or combating tonsillitis and urinary tract infections, horseradish can help keep you healthy.

As usual we unearthed hidden treasures, a plate that would have definitely gotten us on the antiques road show had we gotten it out of the ground whole, instead despite conscious efforts by Monica, Stephen and Jacqueline it came out in pieces and was not a full plate. Guess the wait for our moment of fame on the antiques road show continues.

Brownie points for anyone who remembers when Tesco was selling mint lumps at 13p inc vat (another find by Jacqueline however, the contents had all been eaten).

Amongst the working, laughter and chatter our time at the garden had come to an end, we packed away our tools and said our good byes to Tony who was still hard at work but grateful for the help he had received. He also pointed out that the amount of work we got done in our 45mins would have taken him weeks to accomplish due to his other commitments in other community projects.

We posed for the usual end of task group photos and then headed over to Hilly Fields for our fitness session before returning to glass mills for our cool down and stretches.

Give a cheer to Chloe, Ana, Claire and Hannah.

Not naming anyone but how did the apples got transported home?

Thanks to our back markers Jacqueline, Steve and Stephen for ensuring no one was left behind and fulfilling their roles superbly.

Drop the mic!

Sorry had to pick it back up as I forgot to say next week (Monday) we'll be celebrating Jacqueline's 100th good deeds!! So come prepared to go out eating and drinking at the end of the group run.

Great report Conroy! I can confirm that my apple at least was tramsported home in my HAND, however I did wash it before eating it. And it was delicious!
