Can you outrun a boat?

Now that I have your attention, our very own Carl Wain, as part of his Age UK role, is holding a unique race as part of the 50+ Festival where individuals aged 50 and over will take on the challenge of beating a City Cruise boat in a 2.7km race. It will start at Kings Staith, travel to Millennium Bridge, then turn around back to Terry Avenue.

We have helped with many races, and this one is no exception. We will need some GoodGym volunteers to help the race run smoothly - essentially like a Parkrun. There are a lot of roles that need filling, so the more GG volunteers the better! We need:

3 race marshals 1 back marker 1 timekeeper 1 helper to take completed timesheets to the gazebo 1 person to check age adjusted percentage 1 person to complete and issue certificates 1 person to cover the route litter picking And some people on the boat to encourage cheering!

We will meet at Tower Gardens at 09:00 for the race to start at 10:00. We should be finished at 11:00, where there is talk of going to the Angel on the Green for a quick scoop.

If you have a preference for role, let me know and I will liaise with Carl.

How are you getting there?
