It's Tuesday morning and time to set up the tables and chairs for Age UK. A task swiftly completed by Bethany, Liam & Claire. Just a quick reshuffle required to make room for the chair exercises taking place later in the day. Chairobics for both the wonderful GoodGymers and the clients today!

Another terrific trio of GG Yorkies assembled on this sunny but blustery Tuesday morning. We were in the bottom room for a change which meant tables and chairs having to be moved from further afield so it took us a whole 10 minutes to complete!

Huw and I welcomed Liam to his very first Goodgym task. We, in turn, were given a warm welcome by the staff. With 3 of us it really didn't take long to get the tables up and chairs out. As the staff are unable to set up the event for themselves, they were very grateful for our help. This Age UK day club has a 'Huw -ge', positive impact to those who come along. As this photo shows, I realised I was in the company of true giants! Thank you Huw and Liam!

We both got an absolute soaking en route to the task so arrived in a very soggy state. My problem was that the hand cream I'd applied before setting out on my run, in combination with very wet hands, meant that it was difficult to get a good grip on the large tables. However, with John's help we soon got all the tables and chairs set out and headed off for a well-earned coffee.

Babs and John set up as usual but no Claire this week. And unusually hats were on display today. So of course we each tried one on! Perfect fit!

Age UK ran their first 'Race the Boat' event in York. This was an over 50's race organised by our very own Carl Wain which entailed a race down the river to beat a York Boat. GG were invited to help with running this first event, hopefully in view of future races!

Mitch led a warm up before the boat gave three bellows of the horn. Time for the race to start! Our marshall's Charlotte, Dom and James were already in position, as well as our trusty timekeepers Rebecca, David and James, and finally Laura was prepped for time conversion and certificate writing.

After 20 minutes or so, and a smooth operation, the race was finished, with lots of happy runners excited to do it again next year.

Well done Carl, it was an amazing event.
