Challenged by some really really irritating mosquitoes and with many of us regretting the choice of shorts despite the heat we nevertheless managed to lay 2 sections of barkchip path for the friends of Danesmead Woods. We split into 2 teams, the first team with new runner Jenn (cheer her https://www.goodgym.org/runners/jennifer-benett ), Jenna, Leanne, Vicky, Katie and Mitch set to work on a path at the far end of the wood with the advantage of 2 shovels but a longer section of path to tackle. Leanne did an impressive 50 minutes of shovelling as her leg injury made pushing the wheelbarrows more challenging. The second team with Matt, Kieran, Kate, Lindsay, Pete and Laura had a shorter stretch of path in the woods but the limiting factor of one shovel to 3 wheelbarrows and 2 rakes. Jude from the friends of Dansmead Woods was pleased with our efforts and after rewarding us with rocky road was busy thinking up new tasks for us for future missions by the time we left. Despite a regular dog walker joking that someone had been leaving woodchip on the paths we did a pretty good job, leaving enough in both piles for the Wednesday group to tackle.
