A hoard of GG-ers descended on The Fox (benchmarking HQ for the evening) to embark on ~4-9km loops to locate benches across Holgate and Acomb wards. Runners came prepared with layers head torches, and were given pens, map, clipboards and tables for recording results. Bonus marks to Carl, who wasn't supposed to be running, but came in running gear just in case ~someone~ turned up late.

Sadly, there were not many benches to be found. HQ manager for the evening, Ellie, puts this down to the very bench-heavy West Bank Park (previously mapped by GG in the January Challenge), so nearby streets don't have any.

Results are thus:

Lizzie and Barbara: where there should have been a bench, there was no bench. they found a good place to put a bench, and a very wonky bench which was outside their map area. Nikki and Katie: the saw a bench, thought it was their bench, shouted and Egg and Ruth that it was their (insert heckles here), realised it wasn't their bench, grovelled appropriately, but found some other benches. Egg and Ruth: coerced to her second ever GG task, Ruth bravely agreed to go with the ever-confident Egg around the bermuda triangle that is Hob Moor. After running 180 degrees in the wrong direction, they only found the one, much argued over, bench. Laura and David: even found a bonus, previously unknown, bench! Carl and Louise: found a bench, disappointed over lack of bonus benches Leanne and Paul Kelly: no benches

Ed and Amy, and Maverick Paul - Ellie apologises that she can't remember your results. Please feel free to post below, along with Ellie's well-deserved reprimands.

To map benches in the Micklegate Ward

Looks at how York does to make the place an age friendly city through World Health Organisation checks. Age Friendly York is currently looking at Getting Out And About and residents are saying they need benches to break up their journey so they can get to the shops and other places.
