The great work of other super Sheffield litter pickers and Sustrans volunteers meant the planned task location was just too clean to warrant our attention. Have no fear Sustrans Simon had the trusty Durham Ox in his back pocket that needed a good spruce up.
After meeting at the Showroom for a quick pre run brief and count off, Parkrunner Rachel led an awesome warm up that got us ready for the run to the Ox.
Whilst there we helped out picking up 6 bags of litter, cutting back overgrowing foliage and sweeping and scraping the cycle route.
We extended the run route back by heading past the famous Park Hill flats and a sprint up the Steel City Steps behind the station, before heading back to the Showroom for a stretch off.
Great work everyone!

On a sunny Bank Holiday Monday 3 intrepid GG SHF runners ran to meet the local hero that is SUSTRANS SIMON at the good old Durham Ox pub which is now up for AUCTION!
Simon arrived on his e-bike (could be a RALEIGH?!) and trailer with all the tools we needed to give the Ox a good seeing to!
Task one was a litter pick of the area, which was much needed with much to choose from. We each filled a big bag of litter, so 4 full bags for the council to collect.
The next task was to give the path a good sweep to ensure the full width was useable and inviting. After brushing up well, Simon finished by putting up some new behaviour change signs to try and reduce the ammount of litter being dropped. Fingers crossed!
Until next time, happy running! :)

There are no spiders big enough that can keep the @GGSHF crew from helping out our friends from SUSTRANS.
This week we headed down to the Wicker and across the infamous spider bridge to meet with SUSTRANS SIMON who was in wait with the loaded SUV/MVP with tools galore for our runners to help themselves to and get clearing the cycle path beyond the bridge.
We soon had the cobwebs brushed off as we did the leaves and shards of glass. There was plenty of litter to pick at as we all looked enviously onwards to Rachael who had bagsied the bag trolley, making litter picking a dream!
Once we'd gathered tools and set off we used the spiders bridge as a perfect spot to practice some good running form by working on our lunge technique, ensuring we were co-ordinated with the opposite arm, working with the opposite leg.
Until next time, happy running :)
