Lambeth Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Alice, Richard, Sam and Tracey met up with the other GROAD volunteers to help setup for GROAD'S Open House.
Once they emptied out Shed 1 and 2, they started hanging men's and women's clothes as the other GROAD volunteers took care of the homeware, baby's and kid's clothes and toys and bedding.
There wasn't many donations today with only three drop offs. Thus, it was all done in less than an hour.
Kudos to Richard for coming to his 1st GROAD community mission and first good deed South of the river for sometime. It's always a pleasure to get Alice and Tracey onboard to help too!

Richmond Report written by Ken Mackenzie
Part of our mammoth tree planting task at Petersham Common. An absolute pleasure to welcome GoodGymmers from other areas, and first timers Andreeca, Anastasia, Tim and Laura. What a brilliant first task to be part of: creating a lasting legacy in our beautiful green borough.
Ken gave us a brief introduction to the Common and woodlands restoration which included restoring the middle layer of the woodland. He explained how there was an upper canopy and ground floral plain but how the woodlands was mismanaged for around 50 years and had the middle understory canopy removed regularly. We were helping to plant 25,000 trees to restore this vital habitat where most of our native songbirds nest in the understory between the ground and 5m height.
Ken gave us a demonstration of how to plant a tree and told us about how it was vital to get the plant at the right level in relation to the roots and the stem so it had a good chance of survival.
We set about into the woods with native trees soaking their roots in buckets of water and started planting bird blocks of trees happily chatting away with each other. In no time we had planted 500 trees between us and Ken was very pleased with our work and thanked all of us from the Petersham Common Conservators.
We are back to plant more on Monday 6th March, sign up for the session to join us.

Sunday 29th January
Richard Smith completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Richard has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Islington Report written by Simon Fitzmaurice
Claire and Richard were the first Goodgym runners at Penn Road Community Gardens this morning, ready to help the local crew with their busy seasonal garden preparations (every 4th Sunday of the month, from 10-12am). Shortly after 10.20pm, Alison, Latoya and Simon arrived after running over from Highbury Fields junior parkrun this morning.
Tasks for today included plenty of sweeping, raking and clearing the entrance passageways for garden visitors, and loads of weeding on the main flowerbeds. We also helped with shifting some new mulch, composted from the bins we assisted with building about a year ago. Between us, we completely emptied one compost bin,and spread across the flower beds. Within 90 minutes, we also filled the compost bins with freshly shredded green waste from petrol driven chipping machine.
Fantastic job everyone. Great way to spend a Sunday morning!
