7 GoodGym-ers met at Charlton House for tonight's run in part 2 of our letterbox flyering task for the Library of Things in Woolwich. This week with some contrasting red flyers for none other than our own Library of Tasks, GoodGym!

After an ice-breaker discussing favourite snacks (always a hot topic!l we headed through Charlton Park to our destination streets.

There's not loads one can say about a flyering task, other than its a great way to get our steps in (well, up & down) and discuss the relative merits of different design doors, letterboxes and front gates. Splitting into teams meant we covered a good section of the area, under the scrutiny of several neighbourhood cats, and soon had run out of both leaflets & time.

On Saturday there's gardening at the Hospice, Sunday we're gardening at Mycenae House and next Wednesday we're helping out at Dee's Nursery

Four Goodgymers, the Mayor of Greenwich (he wanted a day off from his robes and chain of office!) and a couple of other lovely locals tackled a mountain of rubbish along the Woolwich Road. We seem to have a secret cider drinker who has a SERIOUS habit and almost filled a recycling sack with their cast-off cans alone.

The area in front of Selco hadn't been cleared for a while so we managed another three bags of recycling (more cans) and six of general waste. Someone had discarded their chippie dinner and someone else their pants, but now you'd never know!

It was a GoodGym Greenwich takeover this weekend! Along with one Camden-er, we had a whirlwind 40 minutes setting up tables, dishing up rice, handing out bread, bananas and cookies, and making more hot drinks than you can count. Great to see you all, and well done!

It was great to be back at Hervey road, a garden built from scratch by volunteer leader Annie and her helpers and located in a rescued sports field.

Two Good Gymers had two tasks: the first, handled by Ivar, was to plant lavender in the gaps between the lavender that Good Gym has been steadily planting over the last year to replace the stuff that inattentive drivers have mashed with their cars; and the second, handled by Julian, was to tackle our perennial enemies of alkanet and bramble to give space for the lavender to flourish. In an hour we'd achieved a lot and the two intrepid Good Gymers left to prepare fro their next mission of the day.

3 GoodGym-ers joined the Friends of the Blue Cross Pet Cemetery in Charlton for today's task.

Fur things First, the onset of autumn has been accompanied by the inevitable fallen leaves from the trees surrounding the area, so a big part of our work today involved sweeping the paths & tile grouting.  While some of us got on with this, adding our trugfuls of leaves to the compost heap, others worked on fixing the water butt & its supporting structure, also clearing away a heap of soil & debris which had been borrowed by some nesting rodents.

We always hear some stories about the Cemetery: today's featured the latest memorial being added for a late pet duck, the artwork for which was expected later in the day. 

A quick litterpick & the task was finished.At least until next month where I'm sure there'll be a whole ocean of leaves waiting for us! 🍃
