Greenwich Report written by Ivar Toft (he/him)

Jenny, Alex, Vic and Ivar met up with the two-legged (and one four-legged) volunteers at the pet cemetery to brighten up the place once again. A very generous hornbeam tree who decided that autumn couldn’t come soon enough had left a thick carpet of leaves for us to sweep up. We all brushed up on our sweeping skills, broomed where no Goodgymer had broomed before, and we were all broommates by the time we finished. The difference was remarkable.

With the leaves gone, the cemetery looked peaceful once more. Every plaque tells the story of a much-loved pet, and we hope our efforts helped make it a fitting place to pause, remember, and smile.

I did three so far- yesterday evening I recorded seeing a gorgeous jersey moth; This morning was pretty overcast and only saw one peacock butterfly, four meadow butterflies and four small whites. Im away on holiday and walking around a large Park and woodland with meadows. Looking forward to counting again ideally in the sunshine, when it comes out this afternoon.

Did mine and saw some painted ladies I think and a couple of what looked like marbled whites. Also had an unidentified moth .

Painted ladies are amazing. It’s reported that they have been assessed in one circumstance to have. 7000 miles. Painted ladies among the greatest long-distance travellers in the insect world.
