2 GoodGymers powered through (in record time!) a busy afternoon at Borough Food Co-op.
Ivar put his strong muscles to work unloading a massive delivery from the truck, packed with heavy crates full of fruit, veg and cans. Once everything was inside, Ivar and Chandrima got stuck into quality checking and crate-mixing apples, pears, bananas, oranges, onions, carrots, parsnips, big potatoes, leeks and sweetheart cabbages to create colourful, ready-to-go displays for distribution.
The tin taskforce then took over for a very satisfying sorting session. First up were towers of canned tuna chunks, sardines and mackerel fillets in every possible liquid (brine, sunflower oil and spring water), all unloaded, separated and stacked so the right tins were easy to find. That was followed by a sea of store-cupboard staples: cans of baked beans, butter beans, chopped tomatoes, marrowfat peas and mushy peas were all sorted into neat groups. On top of that, crates of Diet Coke, Dr Pepper and Korean lemonade were unloaded and arranged so the shelves looked full but tidy.
With Ivar now very close to the brilliant milestone of 200 good deeds – and plenty more deeds to come for 200+ – the pair rounded things off with a quick clean-up, sweeping the floors and wiping down desks so everything was left spotless for the next session.
Big Cheers to Ivar for being a champ and an inspiration to newbie GG-ers! 💪🏻

Valentine’s Day ❤️ usually means flowers and sweet treats — but for us, it meant woodchip and muddy trainers.
It was a cold but bright late morning session, and the dry sunshine made all the difference. Three wonderful GoodGymers met at the churchyard to join the other volunteers for a rewarding few hours of community gardening.
With Sue’s guidance, we spread woodchip, dug out stubborn alkanet, and planted English bluebell bulbs. It was especially encouraging to see that the bulbs we planted last year are already beginning to show — a lovely reminder that our efforts continue to bloom long after the task is done.
Cold fingers, warm hearts. 💛
To finish, we were kindly invited to enjoy some delicious refreshments — hot soup, bread, cake, and plenty of warm conversation. The perfect way to wrap up a winter volunteering session.
This was my second task of the day after parkrun and marked Good Deed number 99. Yhayyy!! Nearly at the big 💯!
A beautiful way to spend Valentine’s Day — spreading love in the community, one bulb at a time.

What a bonus to kick off a Saturday morning — parkrun day! Despite the freezing temperatures, it stayed blissfully dry and the sun made a welcome guest appearance, casting a golden glow over the course. After what feels like endless days of relentless rain, that splash of brightness truly lifted everyone’s spirits and made all the difference.
For this task, three fantastic GoodGym heroes gathered to support the wonderful regular volunteers at Parkrun. Layered up and ready to roll, they jumped right in — helping to keep everything running smoothly and cheering on the determined parkrunners braving the chilly air.
With another task triumphantly ticked off, we paused for a well-earned photo to capture the moment — a frosty but fabulous souvenir of the day. 📸
This marked our first mission of the morning before we headed off to take on the next one. Momentum was high and spirits even higher!
Huge well done to all the parkrunners and the brilliant volunteers who made it happen. What a way to start the weekend! 💪

After a short run for some of us, we all had a busy, chatty hour at Holy Trinity Lamorbey Primary School.
The bright yellow and heavy maroon walls in three classrooms are now on their way to a warm new paint colour. And one of the book cupboards is looking much tidier.
We're mid-makeover... come and join us next month* to keep it going!
