We Got 5 On It

Saturday 14th September

Written by Luton runner

Five GoodGymers ventured into a sunny Wardown Park for our monthly stint volunteering at Luton Wardown Parkrun. Two of us joined the set up crew and three of us marshalled (including on the prestige position at the top of the hill). A nice autumnal morning and a positive start to the weekend!

Out in force at Park Run

Saturday 10th August

Written by Martin R

Our monthly commitment to support Luton Wardown Parkrun, was as strong as ever this morning. 9 of Luton Goodgyms finest supported across a wide range of volunteering tasks, Gail helped the set up team early doors before the rest of the team turned up and then went on to run 🏃‍♀️ 👍🏻. Whilst the rest of us helped out with Marshal duties and Park walking 🚶‍♀️. Big shout out to Pam who stuck with one of the visually impaired attendees, making sure he got to the finish safely. 😀 Well done today team. fantastic effort by all.

Supercharged 401

Saturday 11th May

Written by Luton runner

Early risers aided by Gail and Sam having set up and checked the course, the morning sun then warmed the multitude of runners and volunteers arriving for parkrun number 401. A supercharged and eye-catching splash of red Goodgym t-shirts formed as we assembled for marshall, scanning, parkwalk and timekeeping duties along with some dual role GG volunteer-and-run superstars. A happy team and a healthy contribution to a successful parkrun.

Park Run Milestones for 2 of our best

Saturday 13th April

Written by Martin R

This months Park Run takeover, was given a little bit of extra sparkle ✨️ as Dani and Duncan not only came to help with set up, as part of the takeover, but they also both achieved to milestone of running their 50th Park Run. Gail and Sam joined them to get the event set up, an early start thats not for everyone, but they always do a fantastic job. Martin was marshalling and enjoyed cheering 👏 on all the runners 🏃‍♂️ as they passed him in the delightful April sunshine 🌞. After finishing their milestone run, Dani and Duncan 🎃 walked round the whole course again to share brownies with all the marshal's. Well done team on another successful takeover and well done to Milestone duo on the achievement.

Shiny, happy, dry people

Saturday 9th March

Written by Luton runner

Five GoodGymers took on a dozen volunteer roles between them on a busy Parkrun morning. With last week’s deluge thankfully behind us the park was sunny, dry and teeming with happy parkrunners.

Small in number but highly visible, between us we helped set up the course, checked it was safe, briefed a huge crowd of first timers, marshalled the run, scanned barcodes and managed the finish funnel. Once everything was done we helped to close the event down, packed up the trolley and returned it to the boathouse ready for another week.

Getting a wriggle on

Saturday 10th February

Written by Luton runner

A lovely morning for a Goodgym takeover at Luton Wardown Parkrun. As ever, a variety of roles were undertaken - beginning with setup. The early shift found that a damp night had brought lots of worms out on to the course. Not a tough hazard - unless you're a worm... After tens of the little fellas had been safely moved back onto the grass (and all the signs and cones and stuff were in place) things were ready to go. More Goodgymers arrived to marshal, scan barcodes and tail-walk ensuring that 350+ fellow runners enjoyed another fantastic morning in our beautiful park. Back next month!
