Getting a wriggle on

Saturday 10th February

Written by Luton runner

A lovely morning for a Goodgym takeover at Luton Wardown Parkrun. As ever, a variety of roles were undertaken - beginning with setup. The early shift found that a damp night had brought lots of worms out on to the course. Not a tough hazard - unless you're a worm... After tens of the little fellas had been safely moved back onto the grass (and all the signs and cones and stuff were in place) things were ready to go. More Goodgymers arrived to marshal, scan barcodes and tail-walk ensuring that 350+ fellow runners enjoyed another fantastic morning in our beautiful park. Back next month!

Starting as we mean to go on

Saturday 13th January

Written by Luton runner

A strong turnout on a cold morning for our first Parkrun takeover of 2024. It may have been cold but the GoodGym January challenge is heating up. We’re racking up the good deeds and the miles! Big momentum for the second half of the month!

Was it raining? We didn’t notice.

GoodGym takeover week! A moderately damp day saw a much-reduced field of Parkrunners and a small but busy team of GoodGymers take to the park. We set up the course, marshalled, welcomed newbies and handed out finish tokens to the hardy souls who successfully ran through the puddles and up the hill (four times!) Tea and cake afterwards made it all better.

Loud cheers, warm hearts, cold hands

Saturday 11th November 2023

A mega turnout made this a GoodGym takeover worthy of the name. We covered set-up, marshalling, timekeeping (with no alarms!) finish tokens and barcode scanning. A beautiful late autumn day in the park, 230+ runners and a sociable cuppa in the clubhouse to follow. What could be better?

‘Twas the morn before RunFest and all through the park…

Saturday 14th October 2023

Three GoodGymers at today’s Luton Wardown Parkrun - setting up and scanning. A smaller field than usual (owing to Sunday’s Love Luton RunFest) but good as ever to offer a helping hand to one of Luton’s biggest and best community events.

Parkfun Day

Saturday 9th September 2023

Written by Luton runner

Takeover time once more at Luton Wardown parkrun and this Saturday's event promised to be a warm one. Sam and Gail made an early start setting up and safety checking the course ahead of the parkrunners arrival. Ruth augmented the set up team as a litter picker on and around the route. Gill took on the ultimate responsibility of timekeeper for the production of those all important results. Volunteers at parkrun are all equally important in whatever role they choose to undertake in support of this fun and fabulous parkrun community. Don't be shy, parkrun at Luton Wardown park will warmly welcome all participants and you can cheer and encourage all who make the start line.
