We ran a nice distance (about 2k each way) to Heeley Green Community Garden, with some great city views along the way. We met up with Fran, who offered us a nice choice of tasks including weeding, litter picking, and replanting. Our "out with the old, in with the new" approach took hold quickly - Tomremoved an entire TV (which he said was a first!). Lots of weeds were removed to make the path accessible, and we used teamwork to dig holes, plant bulbs and compact the soil around them. A big welcome to Oliver , who was super helpful and got stuck straight in to the task ☺ Welcome back to Ellie! It's great to have you back in the team ☺

We met up at The Showroom Cinema. We welcomed everyone and set off for the Heeley Green Community Garden. Upon arrival, we met with Fran Elliot who explained the tasks needed to spruce up the area. We all split up in various directions and worked hard, tackling a mix of weeding, tidying the garden area, litter picking, and trimming back some bushes and overgrown weeds. It was dry weather which made tidying up much easier. Altogether, we made a massive difference to this fantastic community garden for local residents to enjoy. A great team with excellent cooperation, chats, and hard work. Thank you to everyone who supported this session and continues to care for the community space.

We met the FANTASTIC FRAN up the TOP of Heeley Green who got us tooled up and briefed on the evenings tasks.

We headed around the corner to a section which had become over run with wet leaves and overgrowth.

Enter goodgym!

We litter picked, we cleared leaves, we cut back brambles and generally made the whole space look a lot more inviting.

On a dark and drizzly Sheffield Mon eve we all headed uphill to meet FANTASTIC FRAN who does such a good job helping to keep a lovely area of green space in Heeley in good order and use make it a good place for the community.

The space hosts benches for people to enjoy, various flowers and trees and even some raised beds.

This time around we helped Fran with some litter picking, clearing of the edges of the space that had become overgrown with weeds, tidying up the compost corner and refilling a raised bed with soil.

After even a short spell, the space was looking clearer and much more user friendly.

The photos hardly do it justice, but believe us it looks so much better after our efforts.

It was a stormy looking night, but that doesn't stop goodgym from making an appearance.

We met the fantastic Fran from Heeley Community Garden on site with tools, ready to get stuck in.

With the spring and summer sun the garden was looking full of life, only perhaps a little too much of the wrong type of life with weeds overgrowing and taking over.

We got tooled up with gloves and spades and got to clearing one of the beds which was full of fly-tipping, weeds, rubble and litter, we even found a rotary washing line in there!

After a brief spell the bed was looking much clearer and ready for a new lease of life! Fran was mentioning that lessons had been learned from the last set of planting and that they would be going for trees rather than flowers this time as they are a lot easier to maintain.

We look forward to seeing these come through in good time.

It was biblical rain outside, but we didn't let that stop us!

A hilly route up to Heeley was our path to go and help Fran from Heeley Green Community Garden.

We started with some weeding of planters, in preparation for new plants going in.

We made quick work of this and next we set our sights a bit higher to cut back some of the overgrown tree branches to allow more light into this overgrown and dark area of the community garden.

By the time we had done this, the water was seeping in to the skin, but there's only so wet you can get so we ploughed on, continuing to weed the area and prepare it for future plantings.

When we were done the area was looking much more clear and ready for a future task of turning the soil over and planting some bulbs for the future!
