Soggy solo gardening in Chapel Allerton

Wednesday 20th October 2021

Written by Gemma

This morning Gemma battled the wind and drizzle and cycled over to Chapel Allerton to tackle an overgrown wildlife patch.

I collected tools from one of the friendly members of Chapel Allerton spaces and headed over to the space to get started. Cycling with the tools was not an easy feat!

There were a lot of leaves, which I collected first. I then removed litter that had accumulated under the leaves. I also weeded the area, picking out nettles and dandelions that had taken over since we last visited the patch.

We will be heading over to Chapel Allerton several times over the year, to help Chapel Allerton Spaces to keep on top of their patches and ensure that they are all safe and accessible for members of the public to visit.

Tree-mendous work clearing weeds in Chapel Allerton

Wednesday 21st July 2021

Written by Gemma

On one of the hottest days of the year, 6 GoodGym Leeds members made their way to Chapel Allerton to clear the wildlife space at Chapel Allerton Primary School.

Gemma cycled over and collected the equipment for the task. She met Rob, Katie, Jenny, Helen and Alex who had run to the task from Hyde Park. Well done for smashing those hills!

Without pausing for breath, the 6 members got stuck in to the task and started clearing weeds and over grown plants from the garden. Some members also litter picked the area to make sure it would be safe and friendly for the community. After an hour of hard work, we had managed to clear a huge amount of material - loading up the skip and filling a couple of litter bags.

We've been given a list of tasks to complete for CA Spaces - so look out for other great tasks like this soon!
