Food Bank Run

Launched in February 2018 by Fareham Running Club members, Sarah Don has been the driving force behind Food Bank Run, a movement to support local food banks which has since gone nationwide. At last count 500+ clubs and schools had taken part, with the principle being simple.

"Organise a run with your club runners, groups runners or your own running buddies. Run to your local food bank and fill it up.”

Food banks are important, here’s why.

The strain upon food banks continues to rise across the country. Trussell Trust food banks stated they alone had delivered nearly 3 million food parcels between April 2022 and March 2023 - up 37% from the same period in 2021/2022.

The rising cost of living leaves many families on the food poverty line, forcing them to rely on food banks for their essentials. The festive period and following months bring only further strain on these crucial community services, meaning even less families are getting what they need.

This is why GoodGym, alongside organisations such as Food Bank Run, will be hosting more tasks than ever to support food banks in 2024.

What GoodGym is doing.

It’s easy to see how GoodGymers are the perfect match to run and drop off supplies to food banks. In fact, GoodGym has been eagerly supporting food banks and food deliveries for some time. From delivering 1000’s of food parcels to isolated people during the pandemic, to the more holistic approach we can take now, cleaning, organising, restocking etc. GoodGymers are happy to lend a hand where needed for a worthy cause.
